Frozen sperm success

Hello! We are FINALLY getting ready to start our IVF cycle after delays from polyp removal and life admin getting in the way. However.... I have had a look at roughly when my egg collection would be and it is falling very close to when my husband is away for work. I really can't bare the thought of postponing this another month. I have low AMH and feel like every month matters, so the thought of waiting is such a killer.

I had the thought that perhaps my husband can provide his sperm beforehand and the clinic can freeze it.

I'm worried it won't be as effective as a fresh sample on the day though.

Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences in using frozen sperm?

My ivf cycle was from frozen sperm (surgical sperm removal due to obstructive azoospermia & low quality) and out of my 7 eggs collected 4 fertilised and made it to blasts to be frozen. Over 50% fertilisied is great numbers but we did use ICSI… maybe see if your clinic advise using icsi if using frozen sperm? But personally I think fresh or frozen would have the same results… same as fresh or frozen embryo transfer results are pretty much the same.

Good luck on your journey whatever you decide ❤️

@Marilala i have a similar dilema to you my husband is also likely away with work and cannot change it whatsoever if he is. My clinic suggested freezing to prevent further stress of not knowing if he will be here or not which is what we have done. I dont want to delay either. Honestly they have said to me fresh is better but ultimately they can use frozen if we need to. I always think of all the people using donor sperm are likely using frozen also and also @HopefulHead who has had surgical retrieval- your results are promising and good to hear!

It may not work as well for us but the way i see it we have no choice anyway really unless we want to wait potentially a long time.
