Hi, i am looking for any advice from those who had transferred a pgta tested embryo and got a bfn. I have one more pgta embryo left but want to maximise chances.

had anyone had a successful second ivf pgta fet? if so, did you do anything different? Any advice most welcome.

Thank you xxx

What grade was the embryo? Grading does still matter even if it is PGT-A tested. Have you had a hysteroscopy or HSG / saline scan to check there are no issues with your uterus?

I’m not sure of your history but if you have had repeated implantation failure or miscarriages with good embryos than you could look into immune testing or tests like the ERA.

I had PGTA testing and my first embryo resulted in a chemical at around 4 weeks. It was a top grade embryo and all was good with my lining and bloods.

I transferred a second embryo last month and got my BFP. The only difference in approach is a baby aspirin every day from before transfer to 12 weeks just in case clotting caused the chemical. I think it was just luck of the draw really.

Good luck OP

Thank you @anncole and congratulations with your bfp! I’m finding the emotional stress of this failed ivf so difficult. Can I ask how you moved onto the second cycle with hope?

Dis you do any tests before your second transfer?

Thanks

The chemical really did knock me and DP. DP is also a woman, which is why we're using IVF and not because of any issues identified. We were new to TTC and probably had unrealistic expectations of it all working out.

I think it knocked us so much that we were not actually that invested in the second FET, thinking it wouldn't work. It wasn't until we saw a heartbeat on the scan last week that we started to actually believe it.

Have you spoken with your doctor about what happened? Ours was very good at explaining the unexplainable and using stats, which helped us realise we were just unlucky really as the percentage chance of the chemical happening after PGTA testing was very small.

They only did another internal ultrasound to check my womb lining was thin before starting all the drugs.

They were considering a saline infused scan, but decided against it. I think had/if this one didn't work, they'd do one of them.

Thank you @anncoleim sp the pleased you got our bfp 💕 thrive recommend an ERA and a hystroschophy which is costly but as I am 41 (as of last week on the same say I found put about my bfp!) .

I'm in two minds as I want to give it a go to maximise changes

That's good they're offering you options to be thorough, but it is hard to know whether it was just unlucky like my first FET and then the second one will be alright. How many embryos do you have? That would probably be a good deciding factor.

There's so much risk, so many decisions and a whole lot of money involved! They don't tell you half of it before you start.
