I mean done with fresh cycle not forever, as who knows that! I thought it was maybe a month like a normal cycle but now I’m confused. From what I can work out of the calendar you obviously have egg collection when follicles are ready which may be around day 12. Then they transfer 5 days later so maybe day 17 and then you can only do a pregnancy test two weeks later? So day 31? And that’s even longer if they don’t collect until day 14 or so.

I want to book a trip for after we’ve finished our first cycle in case it’s all negative 😆 if I’m due to start AF on April 17 when would I be done?

So basically with a normal month by around day 28 you know if you’re pregnant or not but it seems with ivf it’s much longer?

Hi
I understand the want to book a holiday when it's over for stress relief!
However what I'm finding out is there can be a lot of changes throwing the timeline off.
Your period could be late delaying the start of the cycle. Also egg collection is usually day 12-14 but my first week of stims nothing happened as I was on too low a dose. So by the time I get to EC at the end of this week I will have been on stims for 3 weeks, nobody thought this would happen until I started the drugs.
Could you book a week off work and then book that actual trip last minute in case it needs to change? x

Oh wow ok this makes completely sense. Thank you! This is the kind of thing I just don’t know about until I look on these threads.

I hope everything is going ok for you btw.

do you know how they work out the due date btw?

There are so many variables that it is impossible to say, a few things that happened to me were - cancelled whole cycle at the first scan, had to stim for longer than expected on another and had to do freeze all due to thin lining. As for due date it'll depend on 3 or 5 day transfer but if you google IVF due date calculator then there are many websites that you can use to work this out. Good luck with your cycle!

Oh no how come it was cancelled?

I always thought they did five day transfer! I hope things are going better for you now.

I had an egg that I hadn't ovulated from the previous month that caused a cyst so I had to take the pill to help it disappear and wait until the next month. Another reason it can be that lining isn't thin enough at the base line scan. Transfers can be a 3 day or a 5 day, even 2 or 4 in some cases. It depends how many embryos you have and how they are looking. For my final cycle I only had one embryo so there was no benefit letting it go to day 5 so they transferred on day 3 and it did work

Depends what type of protocol your on - long or short, and how well you respond.

I started short protocol 1st Jan (AF started the day before), which was ‘on time’ for me that month, but stress of starting can make that run late for some people. I responded fairly quickly and had egg collection on the 12th Jan. Lots can change in this window - slow to respond, cancelled cycles etc.

I had to have a freeze all cycle due to high oestrogen and number of eggs collected. Which changes the time
frame again. If it wasn’t a freeze all, then a day 3 transfer would have been 15th Jan or day 5 would have been 17th Jan. And then TWW/test would have been 29th or 31st Jan.

So, it would have been literally a month start to end…but like I say, stims could have been longer etc, risk of a freeze all…lots can change.

A lot of places will try for a day 5 blastocyst transfer if you have embryos developing well/looking strong etc, but if you only have a vet low number, or more variablity some may suggest a day 3 transfer to get them back in utero rather than risking them deteriorating and having none left on day 5.
