Downregulation timeline?

Me and my partner are due to start IVF. Now that the wait is almost over I have been googling how it all works as I am a bit clueless and tbh I am still a bit confused. Just wondering how downregulation works? Don’t know much about this part so have a few questions:
What day of cycle does it usually start?
What is the most common drugs used?
How long does downregulation usually last?

We have unexplained infertility after all the usual tests and I have regular 28 day cycles - we have had 3 failed IUIs so far. Just transferred over to CARE for our only NHS round and our consultant appointment is on day 5 of my cycle next month so we are trying to work out when we might be getting started etc.

Would really appreciate any help with this 😊

I'm no expert by any means but I'm doing a down reg starting Friday. I will be doing the down ref for 3 weeks and then starting stims. I'm not sure when down reg should start but my thought are it may be after ovulation has happened. That's how it falls for me!

I think it can vary depending on which protocol they put you on.

I'm on long protocol and started down reg on day 21 of my cycle.
