endometrial cavity fluid / fluid in lining

Hello, so Sunday just gone, Day 9 of stims I had a scan and some fluid was seen in my lining. Today was egg collection and the fluid is still there. If it’s still there by transfer day (Monday) we will need to freeze all and abandon the cycle. I’m due to start cyclogest tonight and have read that it can help to ‘dry’ fluid out. Have also read that fluid at any point in an IVF cycle, even if it’s gone by transfer, is likely to fail.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience of this and what the outcome was please?

Thanks in advance

Hey @Comfort2000 - that’s great news on your scan!! Massive congratulations 🥳 how are you feeling?

I’m good thank you! 15 weeks on Saturday, feeling rough but no complaints 😁 Counting down each week, my 20 week scan is booked for mid October so that’s my next milestone to tick off, cannot wait as then I’ll be half way 😬

@ClubSandwich thank you so much😊 It's been a roller coaster journey for us. Nausea has really kicked in, I feel very tired on some days but generally I'm okay. No bleeding or pain as well. I'm not complaining about the symptoms, doctor says it's a good sign🥺.

Good luck with your 20 weeks scan. I hope everything continues to go perfectly for us. Do you have your pregnancy bump yet😁?

xCrystalQueenx · 14/09/2023 17:53

@ClubSandwich weird question but at which point do you start and stop the pineapple juice . Did you drink the juice or eat the core

ClubSandwich · 14/09/2023 18:32

@Comfort2000 that’s great and I agree definitely good signs, my symptoms were really strong the first 12 weeks too and sound similar with the nausea and fatigue, I’m still suffering from both although definitely not as bad as it was first trimester! The nausea is made worse when I’m hungry, so I find myself constantly snacking 🙈

I do have a bump, it will be my 3rd live birth (I hope!!) so my tummy seems to have popped out quicker than ever before!

Hey, I drank pineapple juice daily from day of transfer and ate pineapple as well. I can’t remember when I stopped but it was probably around the time of my positive test which was 9DPT. Are you in the TWW? Good luck if so

Hi there, just read your posts in this thread regarding fluid in lining. I have the same issue and wondered if the doctors ever established the cause of the fluid? How many months did it take to get a clear cycle? Wishing you all well with your pregnancies!

ClubSandwich · 01/11/2023 13:53

Hey @Hangingonhopes - no official cause was ever given for mine. Past scans have shown build up of scar tissue in the womb due to previous surgeries, the nurse said it had created a ‘shelf’ where period blood became trapped…but she also said they couldn’t confirm what the fluid was or where it was coming from. My consultant said it was likely just a ‘normal for me’ thing and dismissed the scar tissue being a concern. Mine seemed to be present most cycles but always resolved itself by transfer.

Are you currently cycling? I hope your problem resolved soon and doesn’t cause delays to your treatment. Best of luck

Thank you @ClubSandwich , I appreciate you taking the time to respond. It's good to hear you were able to get to the transfer point eventually with the fluid disappearing - so frustrating to not find a reason though. It's these things that I didn't even know I needed to worry about, let alone the whole getting an egg / embryo! I had egg collection at the end of September and due to fluid and lining it was freeze all. I've had this month's off to see if fluid is there in natural cycle (and in my head to drink more pomegranate and take Vit E -probably in vain to thicken lining!) I'm due to start frozen transfer of the one embryo I got next period. My consultant is canning me again tomorrow (day 16) to see if the fluid has gone, or to refer me for hysteroscopy. I'm desperately hoping they can find a reason for it and there's something that can be done so I'm not just left feeling like I'll never get to the transfer stage.

ClubSandwich · 02/11/2023 17:10

@Hangingonhopes ah I’m sorry you’ve had to cancel a previous transfer due to this. I agree, it’s so frustrating not having any real reason for it. I spent many hours on google at the time and remember reading higher progesterone levels can help to ‘dry out’ any fluid in the lining. I started cyclogest pessaries after my egg collection on my first transfer and by day 5 / transfer day the fluid had gone. With my frozen transfer a few months later my progesterone levels weren’t high enough so they put me on Lubion as well as the cyclogest. Again by transfer the fluid had dried up but I have no idea if it would have done anyway or whether it was due to the increased progesterone levels for both transfers. I’ve probably mentioned it here previously but if the fluid issue persists it could be worth exploring an increased dose of progesterone prior to next transfer. I hope your scan goes okay tomorrow and you can find an easily fixable reason for your fluid! Let me know how it goes?

Hello @Hangingonhopes I'm so sorry you are going through this right now, I can totally understand your frustration.
I wasn't given any clear reason for the fluid but I guess it happens in some situations. They mentioned the IVF stimulation injections could be a cause as your hormone levels are high. They also mentioned I was going to do HSG and/or hysteroscopy for further evaluation if the fluid was still there but I was lucky the fluid cleared out before my frozen transfer and I didn't need all those tests.

Although I used a supplement after spending some time on google..Nature's way Astragalus Root. I'm not sure if this helped clear the fluid or it went on it's own but that was the only thing I did differently.

Sending you best wishes and i hope you have a successful transfer.

Heyyyy☺️ @ClubSandwich It's been a minute. How have you been and i hope your pregnancy journey is going smoothly.

I've been sick the whole of first trimester🤢. Morning sickness, nausea, vomiting (the whole time🤦‍♀️), serious food aversion and fatigue. I was literally praying for pregnancy symptoms at 6weeks, lol😂, and it hit me hard from 7weeks. I'm feeling a bit better now that I've entered the second trimester, I hope it gets much more better.

Thank you for checking on me❤️

ClubSandwich · 03/11/2023 07:22

@Comfort2000 so great to hear everything is going well! Glad your symptoms are starting to settle down too, hopefully that will continue and you’ll find your pregnancy glow 😊 I found mine for a week or two, but it disappeared again 🙈 how far along are you now?

Comfort2000 · 04/11/2023 06:18

@ClubSandwich hahaha I hope I find my pregnancy glow soon. I'm 14+4 wks today. What about you?

ClubSandwich · 04/11/2023 08:21

@Comfort2000 I’m 22 weeks today, I have my second 20 week scan next week as baby wasn’t playing ball the first time so the sonographer was unable to get all the measurements required. Hope the weeks fly by for you, keep me posted on how you are doing!

@Comfort2000 hey, just randomly thought about you and wondered how you’re getting on 😀 hope you’re doing okay!
