Just had egg collection... Now the wait!

Hi All

Looking to see if there's anyone about who is in a similar boat...
We had egg collection yesterday from our first IVF (icsi) cycle.

My god the waiting is painful!!!
Had a call from the embryologist this morning to say that of the 18 they collected, 15 were mature and 10 have fertilised. Now got to wait until tomorrow when she said we would have some idea about the quality and they can start to grade.

If there's anyone else in the same position, or if there's another thread I could join then do let me know!!

@Thinkinhappythoughts are you on dhea? Did thet recommend testosteron gel ? What does you on?

They have gave us less than 10% with my own eggs... Very stressful but if there is a chance then we take it

No symptoms for me now - just fed up with the wait as i rather know now.
Missing my gym lol

How are you girls with caffeine intake??

Thinkinhappythoughts · 04/04/2023 15:40

@Hopefulat40
I'm 42 so according to stats I have a 7% chance. I'm hoping that odds are in my favour though! I had a really good egg collection on cycle 1- 29 and 6 made it to day 6 but they were all abnormal. Think that's the stats right there!!
Hoping for a better result this time - fingers crossed.
Ah ok, got about 1 1/2 weeks to go. Hope it goes quickly for you.

Thinkinhappythoughts · 04/04/2023 15:46

@AlisonDanuta
I wasn't too bad with the caffeine, switched to decafe tea but had to put sugar in it!
It was- the exercise, I was a bit like- really?!! When they said that but after about 5 days on the stims my belly popped out and it was quite tender in places and a few bruises dotted around from the injections so I wasn't in a position to do exercises anyway!
How much longer until you can test now?

AlisonDanuta · 04/04/2023 16:23

@Thinkinhappythoughts
Yeah my belly was pretty much out of use of going to the gym! I'm finding this 2ww long... love coffee so very difficult for me lol

My test is another 5 days.. but trying to be realistic here so I don't get a massive disappointment ...

AlisonDanuta · 06/04/2023 14:07

How are you getting on @SarahScone @SadieBarts @Hopefulat40

SadieBarts · 06/04/2023 14:18

@AlisonDanuta I am still waiting on the nurse to contact me. I have chased so many times. I know I wont have the FET until May, but I have asked if they would like me in next week to check uterus lining thickness. I consistently have thin lining, so no point in waiting for May to check, when they could next week and refer for immediately for Hysteroscopy. Found this cycle, they have lacked communication massively. No nurse has called yet and it's been over 2 weeks, only the embryologist to give egg results. Sorry, I am in a bad mood because of them, they just have no empathy. I can't wait for this last funded FET, then I will no longer have to deal with them. Those frozen eggs will be transferred to a better clinic.

How are you?

SarahScone · 06/04/2023 16:35

Hi @AlisonDanuta
I had a positive test this morning Shock so cautiously optimistic! LONG way to go yet but right this moment I am calm so I fingers crossed I can stay this

Oh @SarahScone this is a little victory here for you! Fingers crossed for you and it will all be well!!
What were your symptoms during 2ww?
Omg I'm happy for you!

Hopefulat40 · 07/04/2023 01:05

@SarahScone congratulations!!! Fingers crossed for a sticky bean!!

Hopefulat40 · 07/04/2023 01:07

@AlisonDanuta i just broke and did a home pregnancy test even though it's only 7 days post transfer, even though I know it's highly likely to be false positive because of hcg trigger/luteal support. Oops! It is of course positive but doesn't actually mean anything, other than I guess a baseline to compare against in another week.

AlisonDanuta · 07/04/2023 08:59

@Hopefulat40 be strong and hopeful. I'm sticking to the date..but it feels forever!

SarahScone · 07/04/2023 10:57

Morning all.
@Hopefulat40 I have everything crossed for you that it stays positive! And @AlisonDanuta I waited until test date and for me, it was definitely the right thing to do.

In terms of symptoms, i have had lots of stomach cramps, constipation, the opposite, nausea and bloating etc. but there is a very good chance that was the progesterone. I have been very tired as well. I think I might have felt implantation - sharp pains on and off infrequently over a couple of days. But who's to know what's been a symptom
and what's been a side effect!

@SadieBarts I'm sorry you're feeling deflated with your clinic. Tbh we've had few episodes that made us think if this is best clinic we could pay for.. sometimes small mistake but lots of them can be annoying as this is your life and you need to feel like you're looked after.
But definitely they're better than the nhs clinic we have been with before. Felt more like a factory line and no contact with a doctor directly just the nurses.
Hope May wil be here soonso you an have your transfer!

AlisonDanuta · 08/04/2023 10:50

My test date is tomorrow but we're meeting family for dinner so I didn't want to be upset etc so took it today...
One did not work at all ! And run out of urine for the second one... so took one an hour after.. and it is positive 🌞! Today is 10dp5dt

My symptoms were similar to yours @SarahScone , cramps on first 2 days then just tired, bloated and some sharp pains on day 8 and 9... no implantation bleeding.
Will test again tomorrow just in case test was wrong.
Now the terrifying wait to see if anything will happen 😬

This is our first positive test and we are ttc for 7 years, 3rd ivf icsi

Thinkinhappythoughts · 08/04/2023 10:55

@SadieBarts
I have a thin lining as well as a result from the copper coil.
My treatment plan originally had a hysteroscopy in it to but the clinic I am with merged with another one at the beginning of the year and their procedure was different. They wanted me to do a 3D SIS scan before treatment to check if there were any serious issues. They basically stick a balloon in your womb (which is mega painful btw) then flush it with a coloured solution so they can look for any abnormalities. Saved quite an expensive and invasive hysteroscopy procedure. Might be worth asking about that? You can Google the procedure, lots of info on it..

Hopefulat40 · 08/04/2023 14:15

@AlisonDanuta congratulations! How exciting for you!!!

AlisonDanuta · 09/04/2023 10:25

@Hopefulat40 thank you, we're actually shocked as this is the furthest we have ever got. With my low amh we did not expect miracles! But BFP seems like a miracle..

Thinkinhappythoughts · 10/04/2023 09:53

@AlisonDanuta congratulations! That's fantastic news. Really pleased for you x
You said it was your third round of IVF? Did you try a transfer after each round then?

Thinkinhappythoughts · 10/04/2023 09:54

@Hopefulat40
Still a little positive is always good!
Have you tested again since to check?

Hopefulat40 · 10/04/2023 12:17

@Thinkinhappythoughts haha i did, the line is still there, but no darker. Pushed myself not to test today, will test again tomorrow and Thursday. Driving me nuts wondering whether I'm just picking up remaining traces of hcg trigger shot and boosters 😱😅

Thanks for checking in!

Hopefulat40 · 20/04/2023 02:34

Just an update from me....made it to 5w but then lost the pregnancy. Moving on to frozen transfers. Feeling a bit blue but still relieved I have 3 good blasts to attempt with. If I need another egg retrieval cycle I may have to switch doctors, the other thing that has happened is I tested positive to the BRCA1 gene, so everyone is now fretting about the risks of HRT. Hoping a natural FET cycle works out of the next couple, so I can avoid any more hormone therapy :/

Hope everyone else is going ok?

Thinkinhappythoughts · 20/04/2023 07:57

@Hopefulat40
Sorry to hear that news, it was looking so positive.
Have the clinic suggested you test any embryos before the next transfer?

SarahScone · 20/04/2023 08:21

I am so sorry to hear that @Hopefulat40
That's an awful thing to go through and I can only imagine how you are feeling. Sending lots of compassion and support and I hope you have people around you who can help xx

I only got 8 eggs, 7 fertilised on round 1 and 4 eggs, 2 fertilised on round 2. They’re increasing my medication for round 3 so fingers crossed I’ll get more and they’ll be good quality!
