Day 3 Embryo Updates

We've had the day 1 (post EC) call to update on how many eggs fertilised. During the call the embryologist said that they are no longer routinely giving day 3 embryo updates (to minimise stress to the embryo). I'm just wondering if this is common or do most clinics offer a day 3 update? Interested to hear about people's experiences - did you get a day 3 update or not? Thanks ☺️

We didn’t get a day 3 update (they said they’d only call if they needed me in for a transfer) - I was of course nervous as hell! We had 5 fertilised and I was so worried none would make it to day 5 and we wouldn’t have a clue until we walk into the clinic lol.

We were super lucky and all 5 made it to blastocyst! One of my friends who went through IVF also said, they’re the experts and the fact they say they won’t give a day3 updated to some means they have very very high hopes that most will make it to day 5! 🤍 x

@Izzie94x thank you so much for your reply - that's so reassuring to hear 🤍 It does feel very nerve-wracking knowing we have to wait and might arrive at the clinic to bad news, but it's so true that they're the experts, and hopefully your friend is right and it's a positive sign! You’re welcome 🥰 @LittleRobin86 its such a nervous time isn’t it. Out of the entire IVF process I found the waiting the hardest for sure!!

But honestly, they wouldn’t let it get to day 5 if they didn’t think they would! So they absolutely will and you’ll have a perfect little embryo to transfer!! 🤍✨
