Rejected for Access Fertility refund scheme

DH and I are about to start IVF and applied for the access fertility refund scheme where you get so many cycles and then a certain % of money back if it doesn’t work. We already been warned by our hospital they may not accept us due to male factor, despite the drs being really quite positive about our chances. But now we’ve been rejected I just feel like rubbish and like somebody’s basically saying we’re not good candidates for ivf and this isn’t going to work for us (I know it’s not quite like that and the whole business model depends on not paying out etc) but it’s been a long road to get here and doesn’t take much to start feeling disheartened. Anyone else get rejected and go on to have successful ivf?

I know it's disappointing to be refused a refund package, they are based on financial modelling so if there's anything in your treatment history or test results that may impact on your chance of success it can mean your outcome becomes more unpredictable, so it's hard to predict the cost of treatment until a live birth, It doesn't mean they don't think you will have success, just that it may take you a little longer than a patient where all the test results were above average

I was accepted but the cycle failed, a friend was rejected so went with Create and her first cycle was a success. I think their rules are really arbitrary. Everything looked good with us on paper but clearly wasn’t, unexplained infertility just means they haven’t found the route cause yet. Whereas with male factor, you know how to treat it so hopefully can have a successful round with ICSI first go like my friend 🤞 Obviously nothing is certain in the world of IVF and infertility. But you have as much chance as the next person. Good luck.

Oh sorry I thought you were talking about the ABC package, still, same principle applies! X
