Disappointed ivf outcome

We had our egg collection yesterday. Out of 9 eggs, we got 6 mature and with icsi those 6 were fertilised however we got a call this morning to tell us two embryos were made… now we have to wait and see if either of them make it to blastocyst stage. The nurse said each one has 1 in 3 chance of making it…. Think we were a bit naive about the difficulty and uncertainty of this process.

not sure what I’m asking but just looking to vent…

No one goes into it all realising how hard it is I don’t think, it really is such an emotional rollercoaster.

I had 6 eggs collected, only 4 of those actually fertilised through ICSI but when we went for 2 day transfer there were only 2 embryos surviving. We weren’t even offered Blast. Happily, one of those 4 cell embryos is upstairs playing PS right now. Have hope, it only takes one. Wishing you lots of luck

it just surprised me, two just doesn’t seem like a lot out of 6 fertilised!

Yes it is first round, I can’t imagine us being able to afford a second round especially when we don’t know the outcome.

I think most people seem to get one to two good blasts, however many eggs fertilise. I wouldn’t be too disheartened.
I got one and she’s a year old now. Best of luck op

@Irecan I was naive too- I wrongly assumed IVF just worked. Our first cycle failed we had no blasts and 2 caveatting morulas transferred both unsuccessful.
That was 8 eggs 5 fertilised.

2nd cycle 21 eggs- 18 fertilised, 11 day 3 day 5 3 blasts- 1 put back 2 frozen.

I'm nearly 35 weeks- don't give up hope my clinic said to me think of your first cycle as a test run they tweak the next one to fit you more.
There are payment plans but sometimes interest free credit cards work out better. Hopefully you won't need that though.

We got a call today, both embryos are high quality, one is grade 4 which apparently is the top range and the other is grade 3 which is also very good! We are considering ourselves very lucky and are going to freeze for a bit.

@Irecan that's great news I'm 35 weeks pregnant with a 3BA the others I had were 3BB.
