Hi, just looking for some experience please.

I was referred to Hewitt Fertility Centre in November. I have called them 3 times now to see where things are up to and finally today they said my details are with the funding department.

I already have all the investigations done and so has partner. I've also already tried clomid with no success. This has been going on for years and years now. I know there's a wait but it has been going on for so long waiting for answers it's so frustrating.

I'm really just looking for advice on how long funding normally takes then the steps after that. Even better if anyone has any experience with the Hewitt Centre.

Thank you 😊

Hi OP how did you get on?

Daisy545 · 10/06/2023 19:02

Hello,

I received the funding forms, been approved, had some blood tests and seman analysis for my partner done again. We did do this before but they were out of date.

I have my first consultation on Tuesday. From what I've read we should start treatment pretty much straight after this.

Great to hear things are moving along for you. How has your experience of the Hewitt centre been? X

Daisy545 · 10/06/2023 20:37

Thank you 😊

So far, I have no complaints and everyone has been lovely. But then again, I guess I'll really know once we start properly.

Are you with the Hewitt centre too? X

No, I’m kind of based between Manchester and Liverpool and at the moment have a referral with St Mary’s in Manchester. So wondering what timelines are like and the culture / experience for patients. So glad to hear you’ve had a good experience so far and everyone has been nice, get the feeling that experiences can vary so much, and makes such a difference X

Daisy545 · 11/06/2023 01:11

Yes, I've noticed they can vary so much too.

I hope it goes really well for you x

Hello I'm not sure if you've made your decision yet but I would ask both clinics how much they monitor you up to egg collection, when they start to scan, and do they do monitoring bloods, do they do egg collections at weekends too - and look at results on HFEA:
Ive been with Hewitt and they monitor much less than a friend of mine in another clinic.
I have got some v good embryos this time but that is I feel because I pushed for more scans and change of treatment plan where they had time to up my stims after a poor response previously. I am private funded. That would be my only advice as I didn't read up at all before I chose mine and only went to there because someone I know did and had success despite being told low chance. I may also have success which I really hope I do!! Just If I was starting over I would be more through in my researching of what's best for me and my circumstances. 😊

@SpringtimeGirl thank you so much! My experience so far has been that no one is at all forthcoming with information about what’s happening or what to expect. It seems you very much have to advocate for yourself!!!

Thank you for the invaluable information!

Good luck on the next steps, hope everything goes well X

Hi OP,
hope you are ok,
i just want to ask, Have you start the treatment yet?
i also with Hewitt at the moment I’m waiting for nhs fund to be approved.
do you mind if I ask, For how long do you wait to hear that nhs fund is approved?
also if you don’t mind to share your timeline.
i have pcos and my husband got low motility so they only offer us this route.
