4 failed embryo implantation IVF ICSI

Hi,

I’m seeking for help and hopefully some uplifting stories!

I’ve just had my 4th failed embryo transfer. I’ve never had a BFP. I’ve been through 3 egg retrieval now with a total of 29 eggs collected, 22 mature, 16 fertilised but only 4 made it to day 5 blastocyst. I’ve had the ERA testing, Saline scan and NK cells bloods done. My bloods flagged as high so my recent cycle I had Clexane, Prednisolone and baby aspirin added. I also had intralipid infusion and embryo glue but still had a BFN.

I’m struggling to understand why this isn’t working. I don’t know what else I need to do for it to be successful. Have I just had bad luck or is there something I else that needs to be looked at.

My partners sperm also isn’t great. Again, we’ve tried everything to improve it but it’s not working.

any advise or positive success stories where you’ve been in the same situation.

Hi sorry your been through this. Just wanted to ask if you had those embryos tested?

Roberto1992 · 12/02/2023 21:46

Hey,

I haven’t. I wasn’t sure if this could be done because it was never offered to me.

If the embryos are tested, can they still be used for transfer? I’m just thinking they may not of offered it because I only get 1 embryo that makes it to day 5 blastocyst.

I think it's what worked for me at 40 yo. They test it before they freeze. PGTA. Sounds like they don't offer it to people who are younger, except they ask for it. It can be scary cos I was afraid all mine from 3 cycles will come back as not normal. I had a hysterescopy to check my lining was fine before the transfer as well.
I wish you all the best, it always works out in the end.

Roberto1992 · 12/02/2023 22:11

@Justhopeful I’m so happy it worked for you. I love hearing that it works out in the end.

I have my follow up appointment with the doctor next week so hopefully we can discuss it then.

can I ask roughly how much it costs?

@Roberto1992 I know what you feel, very sorry you have to go through this. I am 34 and had 3 IUIs and 3 full IVF cycles , in total 9 transfers. My last transfer worked, I am currently 7+2. It was my first BFP ever, so I am really concerned at the moment and can’t feel happy yet. Just like you done all tests and everything was fine. My embryos are not tested and in first two cycles were quite low quality. In my last cycle Dr. changed my meds for stimulation and I had much, much better outcome - fresh transfer which worked and 11 frosties. Don’t lose hope!

Roberto1992 · 15/02/2023 20:44

@VO27 that’s amazing news. Congratulations and I’m happy you got your BFP 😊. I have low AMH and my partner has poor sperm quality so I’m not getting good numbers. I only seem to be getting 1 embryo and non to freeze, this is sitting well with me. I’ve been on the long protocol which I’m better on but for some reason this cycle didn’t go well. Can I ask if you took any additional supplements that you think might of helped?

I found reading Prof Robert Winston's website very helpful. I took inspiration directly from there and have since had 2 successful pregnancies.

VO27 · 20/02/2023 13:49

@Roberto1992 Thank you! I really hope you will get your BFP soon too!
To be honest, I did absolutely nothing this time and it just worked. I take D3 and folic acid (my Dr. reccomended to take it at least for two month before possible pregnancy). Before starting last cycle I had a course of CoQ10 as it is generally recommended for women (helps to regenerate cells and stay young). That’s all.
Previosly I tried to have high protein diet during stimming (at least 60g per day) - it was my worst cycle in the end. Tried pomgranate juice to improve thikness of my lining - don’t know if it was helpful, but didn’t hurt as well. Then I had brazilian nuts every day - it is good for both partners. And ofcourse tonns of pineapple, as it’s core should have positive impact on fertility.
Unfortunately I will never know why it worked now, maybe it just was my turn this time 😃
Wish you a lot of luck and never lose hope - everything is possible and one day will be your lucky day! Stay strong! ❤️

Hey Roberto,

I am in the exact same position as yourself. I'm 33 have had 3 egg retrievals and 4 transfers all ending BFN.
I have had 39 eggs collected in totsl but only 4 making it too blast. 1 each time except last cycle we got a day 6 blast.
Partner has low sperm count. Feel like were alone and not sure why its not happening.
We have another egg collection next month but since then I have had the NK test which they found to be high so next round I will be put on a course of steriods. Hope that works.

Roberto1992 · 14/06/2023 18:08

@MBiss89 so sorry for the late reply, been keeping my head down.

so sorry that you’ve gone through it all. It’s hard to pick yourself back up after each failed transfer. I hope you’re doing ok! Happy to talk if you need someone.

how did your egg collection go in May?

OP posts:
MBiss89 · 14/06/2023 21:13

@Roberto1992 had EC done May 22nd where they collected 14 eggs of which 12 were mature, 8 fertilised and became embryos and only 1 went on to become a blastocyst. Which is what is happening all the time, we had 3 early blastocysts but they arrested.

Roberto1992 · 14/06/2023 21:31

@MBiss89 It just isn’t fair 😔. Did you manage to transfer the 1 embryo?

I’ve taken a few months out to hopefully help with egg quality and sperm. A lady I follow on Instagram has flown to Athens for ICSI. She saw Dr George in London and he’s meant to be very knowledgeable in the sperm department.

I think the problem is the not knowing why it’s not working. I find myself going insane because I feel so confused on what I should be working on to make things better. I always find in life that if I want it, I work hard for it but this doesn’t give me the result for it!

Please don’t feel alone. I constantly google, read threads and look on IVF insta pages to confirm that I’m not the only one.

MBiss89 · 14/06/2023 22:19

@Roberto1992 Yes we transferred our 1st ever grade AA embryo and we finally got our 1st ever BFP.
Cant believe it and wont believe it until we get to scan.
I deleted social media when I got my 1st BFN 2 years ago as it wasnt good for me.
If this cycle didnt work we was going to go to 'Your IVF Journey' in Czech Republic a lot cheaper and better success rates ran by a british couple who had sucess twice at the clinic xxx

Roberto1992 · 15/06/2023 07:03

@MBiss89 That’s the best news! So happy for you. Your story gives me hope ♥️

If our next round doesn’t work, I will look into Czech Republic. X

@Roberto1992 Thankyou so much, very anxious time. We didn't PGS test the blastocyst so praying that it is normal 🤞
Best of luck to you and hope you get your happy ending xxx

Roberto1992 · 06/07/2023 15:46

@MBiss89 I’ve been thinking about how you’re getting on? How are you? X

Roberto1992 · 14/07/2023 09:22

@MBiss89 I'm so sorry for your loss. Go easy on yourself ♥️

Did you find out at your viability scan?

I went through pgta at 41. Three of my 13 embryos came back as normal. (Over two collections).

I would advise pgta. It's expensive but not if you're not transferring embryos that sadly won't make it.

They can defrost the embryo to take a sample and re freeze. Not ideal but I think it's a 2% chance of it not surviving the testing.

MBiss1989 · 05/08/2023 23:24

Hey @Roberto1992 how are you? Sorry I didnt reply I am not in a good place right and wanted someone to message as I feel so alone. The last 7 weeks has been horrendous xxx

OneHeapedTeaspoonOfSugar · 09/09/2024 18:08

Any success stories here ?? 🙏🏽 xx

Roberto1992 · 09/09/2024 21:19

@OneHeapedTeaspoonOfSugar yes 🙂 5th embryo transfer worked. We did transfer 2 but only one took. She is now 6 months old and sound asleep next to me ♥️ never give up.
