Hi, new here and just looking for some advice.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to choose a clinic for IVF that's going to be best to use my own eggs.

I know most advise using a donor egg if the wrong side of 40. Really want to give it a go and if not successful will consider a donor egg.
So far I'm looking at either create or care fertilty.
Thanks in advance x

@Houndofchoice I am using create in Manchester, I turned 40 last year. Had a consultation with them & all tests etc and they didn’t mention at all using donor eggs as my only option. I started my first round with them this month so it the midst of it and can’t tell you a result as yet but so far am really pleased with how they have treated me and the care from the doctors and nurses. Hope that helps a little

I had twins via create Birmingham but I'm under 40 but know lots of women who had success over 40 at the same clinic

Thanks for the feedback, certainly gives me a bit of hope.
Wondering how much my AMH etc would have changed in a year. It was looking okay then but heard things can change quite quickly.
Twins would be amazing but at this stage I’d be happy just to have one.

be keen to hear how everyone is getting on on this thread? About to start ivf for first time. TTC1 after two miscarrages last year. I am now 37 and have low AMH and AFC for my age so feeling super stressed about everything. Hope everyone is doing well x

LF82 · 25/07/2023 15:04

@LAURAPAX hope you are ok, ivf is so stressful! What clinic/type of ivf are you doing? I started earlier this year- with Create doing mild ivf. Have had 3 egg collections & have 5 embryos in the freezer. Create focus on quality not quantity. I haven’t had a transfer yet as some complications mean I need 3 months of down regulation before we can do that. It’s very hard as it’s all one step at a time with ivf and basically for me every time I do something I have to wait 2 periods before we can move on to the next step! Wishing you lots of luck

Hi everyone, I'm 37, turning 38 later this year. Low AMH of 4.3 pmol so will be going for natural modified IVF in about a months time. @LF82 noticed you mentioned you're with Create, sounds like you have had a good experience so far with 5 embryos. If you dont me asking what is your AFC/AMH like and do you have any advice at all? So far Create have been very good! My 1st NHS cycle was a few months ago, max stims and did not work out, so hoping for a better result with Create

LF82 · 25/07/2023 22:19

@Sunflower360 I am horrendously bad at remembering my levels and they didn’t obsess over them when I had my initial
consultation - so sorry! But I have usually had about 8-9 follicles each round that have grown at various levels. I am doing mild ivf - not sure what the difference between that and modified is
we have done a package where we had 3 egg collections / embryos in the freezer before a transfer would be attempted - Create said the idea is to get some good embryos whilst my age didn’t go up loads of that makes sense
We now have 5 embryos in the freezer but each cycle was different - first one I had 8 follicles, got 8 eggs, 4 fertilised and 3 in freezer. Second round 5-6 follicles, only 4 eggs, all fertilised but none made to freezer and most recent cycle we got 2.
Overall I have been very happy with Create and the care they give so far. All scans have been done by a consultant and the nurses are lovely.
just realised that’s a lot of info- if you have any questions just ask x

Sunflower360 · 25/07/2023 22:25

Thanks for sharing @LF82 I think because I only got 2 mature eggs in my high stims cycle through the NHS and as my AMH is under 5 they advised natural modified. Tbh I'm fine with that, I do not think it is worth using high stims if I'm only ever going to produce 1 or 2 eggs per cycle 🤷‍♀️

Sunflower360 · 25/07/2023 22:25

Did you do PGTA or embryoscope @LF82 ?

LF82 · 26/07/2023 07:38

@Sunflower360 I haven’t. I read much mixed research on pgt a testing and decided that we would at least attempt a transfer first (most interesting was an article by the man who created it saying he didn’t develop it for the way clinics use it now)

Sunflower360 · 26/07/2023 08:00

@LF82 That's interesting. If I got embryos it would likely be very few so I'm inclined to transfer regardless too to give it a shot... if I had several (that would never happen with my AMH levels) then I may have considered it

Sunflower360 · 26/07/2023 08:01

@Houndofchoice how did you get on with the IVF and choosing a clinic?
