Low positive and how it turned out for you

Hi,

I’m currently 11dp5dt and have been testing for the last few days and the line is quite light even thought it’s getting a little darker.

I had my bloods taken this morning and got the call saying it’s not a no but that it’s a low positive as my level is 42 and to confirm pregnancy it needs to be at 50.

Has anyone had any experiences with low levels and having a low positive?

Im due to get my bloods taken in two days and just hoping it doubles!

Hi. No advice unfortunately but I’m in a similar situation. Just a waiting game I guess. Let me know how you get on

Hi lovely, I'm sorry you have to go through this uncertainty. My first beta was 25 and unfortunately for me, it resulted in a confirmed blighted ovum pregnancy at my 7 week scan. I have seen stories where it has worked out for others but I would recommend staying neutral and just see what happens. Sending love xx

@Rubyroo1984 the waiting is killing me, I’m so impatient and would just love to know either way. I also started bleeding yesterday and it’s not a period but more than just spotting. But tested this morning and the line is still getting darker but not sure if it’s dark enough. I guess the bloods tomorrow will tell. How are you getting on?

@clhsgirl Im sorry to hear that you had to go through it. Are you going to do another round?
I’ve heard a lot of similar stories of things not working out unfortunately. It’s just so hard knowing you are testing positive but it will more than likely not work out, I’ve been so upset and disappointed as it’s such a hard journey.

Top one is today at 12dt5dp and bottom is 11dt5dp but with me bleeding today and yesterday I’m setting myself up for a negative as I’d hate have my hopes up and be absolutely crushed. Not that you won’t be anyway.

You'll be heartbroken regardless, I was even though I expected it. I do think it would have been worse though if I hadn't been so wary, it hit my husband hard as he was more optimistic than I was. We had a second transfer recently but unfortunately found it today that it failed, just trying to stay positive and believe our time will come. Xx

Hi @FrostedFlake how did you get on?

Hi @Rubyroo1984 I’ve continued to bleed and it got quite heavy but my HCG had exactly doubled but still a little low. They suspect it could be an ectopic pregnancy and will need to do bloods in 4 days after the last ones. If they keep going up need to wait another week to do an ultrasound. It’s just such a painful journey and I wish I was just told either way so I could grieve and try to make a plan for what’s next.

How are you keeping? Are you in a similar situation still or have things changed?

Just did another test as haven’t tested in a few days and the line has gotten darker again 😭 it’s just so sad that it’s more than likely not viable but the little pea is trying to grow and develop.

Hi @FrostedFlake sorry to hear you are still bleeding and they suspect an ectopic. How do they diagnose at this stage? The not knowing and being in limbo land is the worst.
Mine did double and some but I’ve requested another blood draw to be sure.

FrostedFlake · 12/02/2023 13:29

@Rubyroo1984 that’s wonderful news!! Great to hear that it keeps raising! ❤️
I think ultimately it’s diagnosed through an ultrasound but my understanding is that if your HCG keeps going up but not necessarily doubling or as high as it should be for where you are in the pregnancy they might consider that as the reason. But I believe it’s fairly rare at around 2%-3% of pregnancies so it’s best not to worry about it!!

Would you mind me asking what your initial level was? I’ve seen some clinics looking for a min of 50 others 100 and I was at 42 and 48 hours later at 84 so still fairly low.
