Hoping someone has been in a similar situation and can offer some advice. I'm 40 TTC no. 3 for 5 months now with no luck. Got pregnant quickly on my first two so got bloods done last week to start checking if anything is wrong. Text from Doc on Saturday that FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) is slightly high - and to check bloods again in six weeks.

Was on about CD 6/7 when I got the bloods done - not sure if that makes a difference.

Have been getting positive ovulation tests every cycle for last few months so am confused and scared by what Google is telling me - early menopause, low or no eggs

Anyone been in this situation?

👋 hello! My first blood work came back with FSH 48.3 I was 38 at the time. What noone told me is it can change month to month. At its lowest its been 12 naturally over the last 2 years.

I have been in IVF cycles for 2 years so had oestrogen suppression to reduce FSH and at lowest it was 1!

NHS told me peri menopause and no chance IVF would work. Not going to sugar coat it...it was rough. 10+ cycles to get 4 embryos in the freezer as the FSH, low AMH and low AFC all contributed so we got all the way to egg collection for 3 out of 10 cycles and usually had about 2 eggs collected per cycle and 1 day 5 embryo.

Just to share my 2nd month FSH was 28 so still considered high but as I said the one thing I wish I'd have known which didnt appear on Google searches I did is that FSH can change and we just had to wait for good months. Also folicle count can change 😊

Thanks for the reply. It's a scary time. Great to hear from someone going through it. We're meeting fertility clinic and getting more tests next week. How are you today? Any changes since?

Hey @LeeCee I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant following frozen embryo transfer. 😊

My FSH cut off for IVF was it needed to be below 16 on Day 3 of cycle to be able to start stimulation phase so that the meds had a good starting point, as the purpose of the meds is to stimulate your FSH to grow the folicles 😊

Finding a clinic you are happy with is the most important thing, we had consultations at 3 before deciding who we were going with. So I hope your appointments go well. It can be really overwhelming and my advice is ask all the questions to make sure you understand the whys of the advice.

Everyone is different so they may run your tests and not recommend IVF. My challenges weren't just FSH related, I also had premature ovulation so my LH had to be suppressed to give the folicles chance to grow.

Happy for you to private message me while you are on your journey xxx wishing you all the best xxx

Oh congratulations that's fantastic news. Wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy x I feel we might have a long road ahead. But at least we'll be getting more information this way than just blindly hoping every month
