Can someone explain IVF basics and costs like I’m 10?

So time short and trying to learn as quickly and as much as a i can before contacting clinics this week. Have always known I can’t carry, and decided on surrogacy (controversial I know) but that aside, as I’m 40 I want to try and make some embryos if at all possible ASAP whilst we investigate the surrogacy side of things. So I need to make some embryos and then freeze them. If not will make some embryos with donor eggs.

Whats the basic process/timescale and costs for these things? I don’t think I’m going to bother with NHS trying for funding as I’m aware time isn’t on my side if at all.

Around £5-6,000 from my experience.

For most people, one cycle of IVF will take between four and six weeks. However, for medical reasons some women won't have the first stage of treatment (suppressing hormone production) which brings their treatment time down to around three weeks. Your doctor will advise you on the most appropriate treatment for you.

I had a multicycle package at £8,800 for ICSI, that was two rounds and all embryo transfers (alot of clinics charge per frozen embryo transfer, about 2 grand a pop so this meant it was cheaper for us) also had the embryos under an embryoscope for accurate grading with that price. Meds cost about 2 grand for a fresh round in my experience on top of the price of IVF. Some clinics do an all in cheaper package but you have to hit strict criteria, age being one of them so may not be ideal in this situation. Good luck on your journey :)

Thank you both for the information and links.
Ordered an at home AMH and other fertility/thyroid blood tests so should have the results this week ready to move on that side.
