Hi all,
im at a crossroad at the moment and would love to hear positive stories!
I had my DD naturally at 36. Over the last 3 years my husband has suffered from mild ED which has made it virtually impossible to conceive naturally.
we turned to Ivf and did 4 cycles at 40. Managed to get 5 very good quality embryos but they all came back abnormal (they each only had 1 abnormality which is such a shame 😢)
im now 41 and doctors have given me a 10% chance… not sure if I should just go for it or call it quits? So scared of the disappointment but feeling rather desperate at the moment.
thank you for any tips/ encouragement/ stories xx

Hiya. I had a round of IVF at 40, resulted in two blasts, did a double transfer but had a BFN. There was a 3rd blastocyst but it wasn't good enough quality to freeze.

At 41 last February, I had another round, 10 eggs collected resulting in 2 x blasts, both transferred. BFP. The result of that round is currently snoozing in a moses basket next to me.

It took 4 embryos in total to have a successful pregnancy
We didn't test ours though. I believe the stats for 41-42 are 1in4 or 1in5 embryos will be chromosonally normal? so I was bang on trend.

@Bryterlayter1 thank you so much for your message, gives me hope!
the reason I’m testing is that I did a transfer without testing last year which resulted in a terrible miscarriage (lost so much blood I had to have a blood transfusion and stayed in hospital for 2 days 😵‍💫)
turning 42 in June so thinking I’ll do a few more rounds and see what happens.
so nice to hear positive stories when dr are so negative x

Hey @NinaBananaMama I’m 42 and did my third cycle at Lister. It would be good to keep in touch as we’re similar. I had my son when I was 39 (and two weeks ;) ).
I also had a miscarriage last year from ivf cycle 1 with a good grade but untested blastocyst so am also testing all mine.
What abnormalities did yours have?
So far I’ve had:
-mc tissue had trisomy 18 and also problem with chromosome 13.
-blast tested from cycle 1 had a problem with chromosome 19
-blast tested from cycle 2 had a problem with chromosome 22.
-this cycle I think we will have no blasts. Will find out Tuesday/Wednesday.

Ive read that chromosomes 15,16,21,22 are the most likely abnormalities.

Im thinking to do another cycle.

@birdbybird
Hi just found this thread.
Wondering if you decided to do another cycle? I'm also 42. My first round resulted in 6 blasts but wee sent for PGT-A and all were abnormal. I'm going in tomorrow for cycle 2 egg retrieval. Very nervous about it all.

@NinaBananaMama just came across this thread now!! Wow! Congratulations!
I'm about to start ivf at 39, for me, and others likely to stumble across this thread in future, did you do anything differently the successful round?! How many blasts did you get?! Also, which clinic and would you recommend?!
Congratulations again! Enjoy your precious baby!!! xx
