Egg quality Advice please!

So I had 3 eggs collected. 2 successfully fertilised. Now on day 3. The clinic phoned and told me that both eggs were good quality - an 8 and a 10 cell. However, something unusual happened- even the embryologist couldn’t explain! My 10 cell went from 1 cell straight to 3 cells (totally missing dividing into 2) she told me it was so unusual and dosen’t know why it happened but now it is a good quality 10 cell (I am using the endiscope so she looked back and knows it didnt divide into 2) She said that due to this if both eggs make it she will transfer the 8cell egg. But if only the 10cell egg makes it she will still transfer it despite thinking the success may be lowered. She said that if they hadn’t of used the endoscope they wouldn’t have even picked it up. Obviously this has scared me.. I keep thinking what if it is a genetic abonormalty? Or something wrong? Likelihood of a miscarriage? Has anyone ever heard of this? I’ve tried googling it. What would you do if you was me? Am I over thinking it?

Hmmm something like this happened to me in my first cycle, wish I could remember the details for you but it was a while ago and a lot of water has passed under the bridge since then! If I remember correctly, one of my embryos went straight from 1 to 4 cells then kept dividing so had more cells than it should have done by day 3. The one they transferred had been slow to divide, think it only had 5 cells, so in my case they preferred the one that divided slowly compared to the one that divided abnormally. The embryologist said it might “self-correct” and be suitable to freeze but it didn’t and it was discarded but I’m not sure if that was because of the abnormal cell division or if it deteriorated between day 3 and day 5. If your embryologist is saying yours is now good quality and it’s the number of cells it should be at this stage then maybe it has self-corrected. Good luck!

Ok thanks- yeah she did say that it looks normall now and good quality at 10cells on day 3. It’s just worrying but she did say she wouldn’t have even noticed it if they hadn’t used an embriscope. I’ve just got to hope my 8cell egg makes it so I’m not constantly worrying if the 10 one implants. Thanks
