Feeling really really fed up - currently ttc (I have a blocked fallopian tube).

Every month before my period I tend to have brown spotting on and off for a week, then my period arrives and that's the end of it.

I'm currently ttc so I tracked my ovulation this month - I'm about 4dpo. I have just been to the toilet and noticed I've got brown spotting... my period isn't due for about 11 days!

I honestly don't know how much more I can mentally take. I've had surgeries and I haven't got endometriosis. There are no abnormalities in my uterus/cervix to cause this spotting.

Can anyone help? I don't think it's ovulation spotting as I wouldn't know what that is or when it happens? For me to have spotting longer than 7 days before my next period never happens.

Obviously I'm hoping I'm pregnant but looking at my past with this spotting it just feels further away than ever.

Why would I have brown spotting when I'm only 4dpo?

If anyone can help I'll be forever grateful as I think I'm 2 minutes away from a full on meltdown. Thank you 🙏

Hi Op, I have spotting sometimes at random points in cycle and found I have low progesterone, have you ever had your 21 day progesterone level checked?

Or could be implantation, my implantation spotting was pale pink but brown just means it's oxidised so may be that.

How long have you been TTC?

I haven't had my progesterone checked, I'm going to try and get the text next month. Are there things that can fix low progesterone?

I've been ttc a couple of years but had a break due to surgery. My surgeon now see's no reason why I can't conceive naturally.

Isn't 4dpo early for implantation? :(

If your progesterone is low it can easily be supplemented. Get your bloods done 7 days after ovulation, they’re called day 21 bloods but that’s presuming you ovulate on CD 14, not everyone does.

4 dpo is early for implantation, the embryo should just have reached the uterus to begin implantation.

You’re only 4 dpo, you haven’t even implanted yet so I think it’s fairly safe to say that you’re probably not at the moment but of course you could be by the end of the cycle!

I had/have this every month. Spotting 5-7 days before af is due. I had every test under the sun and never had an answer for it. All the Drs I saw said that it wasn’t a barrier to conception. I did have slightly low progesterone and high prolactin. I tried medication for both over the course of 6 months but still didn’t conceive. As I hit 35 I decided it was time go go for IVF and we had DS. When af returned the spotting also did. However we have gone on to conceive naturally so it seems the Drs were right that it wasn’t what our issue was.

So could I randomly have spotting that's irrelevant to my period? I've always linked the spotting to my period beginning as it's always 5-7 days before..

So weird.
I'm kind of pleased you've been told the same as I have too - it's just so frustrating when to me it seems like a huge deal. I've also got the added barrier of one blocked tube so it just feels like it's never going to happen at the moment :( x

@anon12333 I often had spotting around ovulation too, hormone changes etc. I never used to get it at all, only when I reached about 29 or 30 perhaps I started to feel ovulation and have a but of spotting some cycles. One cycle I spotted everyday between ov and period, seemed a one off but its frustrating when there's no real pattern. I had IVF to concieve as my husband had very low sperm count as it happens and other than slightly low progesterone my tests were always normal as can be.

Just to add too for implantation, I had a transfer on a Thursday of a 5 day blastocyst, and got a positive hpt on the following Tuesday so it's more like 9dpo on you'd be able to test, and often later as there's not a set amound of time.

@anon12333 I would get your day 21 bloods done first as I would always associate that kind of pre-period spotting with low progesterone.

Spotting was a bloody nightmare for me in early PG. At birth I was told brown is normal it’s old blood. But I understand that this can be the precursor to AF. The problem is that PMS synonyms can be the same as early PG - it’s so so frustrating and highly annoying. OP hope you’re ok keep us updated x
