Donor Sperm

Unfortunately looks likely myself and my partner are going to have to use donor sperm due to male fertility issues. My partner is happy to use donor sperm, however is adamant the sperm used isn't from the UK but from abroad. Does anybody know if the NHS (if funded by them) will fund us to use sperm from the European sperm bank or Cyros rather then from the UK??

The NHS have a very limited selection of donors so you won't get much choice if you go down the NHS route. I think they are usually UK donors.

Can I ask, why is he so against using a UK donor?

I would be a little concerned if the reason is that he doesn't want the child to have easy access to the donor when they grow up. I wonder if that's the case, if he hasn't completely got his head around it all yet?

It's a bit of a minefield especially for the man. But if that's his thinking then it's a bit concerning as he would be putting his own needs above his child, who might well want to know who the donor is and seek contact in the future.
