I have just been told that I have eight eggs which have made it today one. How many eggs am I likely to end up with four blastocyst I am really worried and I feel like I won’t have any at this point or or a really low number. Please advise.

Hi - I have low ovarian reserve, low amh and am a poor responder. I did 3 egg collections last year and results were:

Cycle 1 - 6 eggs collected and 1 day 3 and day 5 embryo/blast frozen
Cycle 2 - 4 eggs collected and 1 day 3 embryo frozen
Cycle 3 - 2 eggs collected and 1 day 3 transfered fresh and a day 5 blast frozen.

I am now 24 weeks pregnant with my day 3 fresh transfer.

I remember being so upset to only get 2 eggs on my last go but both of them made it! Having big numbers doesn't always give you the best chance its just the quality of the eggs which you will have to see over the next few days.
Wishing you lots of luck xxxxx

@HB1982 it’s really hard not to worry! I was exactly the same last week. We had -

11 eggs, 9 mature, 5 fertilised with ICSI, and all 5 embabies made it to blastocyst (day 5). Which I really didn’t expect at all! So we had a fresh transfer and we’ve got 4 Frosties 💖✨

Wishing you all the luck x

@Izzie94x thank you and congratulations! Can I ask how old you are and do you have any fertility issues we are worried because we are soon to be 35. Presumably you got pregnant with that cycle also? Xx

I’m 28, and DH is 33! Our issues seem to be DH’s low morphology at 1% so we had to have ICSI.

Just take each day as it comes, my clinic said no news was good news. They were aiming for a 5 days blastocyst and transfer, but they’d call me before if they weren’t looking so good for an earlier transfer 💖

Did you get 8 fertilised, or 8 mature? That is still an amazing number!! ✨ lots of positive thoughts.

I’m currently watching for OTD, fingers crossed 🤞🏼 x

Fingers crossed! I have 8 fertilised on Day 1. I’m so nervous and I’m nearly 35 which is panicking me. Did your clinic advise on how many you would get?

I had 7 fertilised on day one and I was also so disappointed! However 4 made it to the freezer and the first one we transferred is now 2.5yrs old. Try to stay positive, I found this wait the hardest part of ivf. Fingers crossed for you

Betsyboo87 · 10/01/2023 20:04

Oh and I was 36 if that helps

HB1982 · 11/01/2023 08:02

Thanks Scarlett can I ask how old you were? And did you have any fertility issues? We have unexplained and husbands morphology is not that high x

@HB1982 Hi - I was 36 on my successful round last year. Had a failed nhs round at 35 where I didn't produce any eggs at all.

I have a low ovarian reserve, low amh and am classed as a poor responder to the drugs. Also have endometriosis and mild adenomysosis. So quite a lot to deal with.

We started trying for a baby in 2018 when I was 32 so the age thing was a concern but I had better success at 36 so try not to stress too much about your age. Xxx
