Low progesterone? Spotting before periods

Hello,

I'm really struggling to conceive. I've had a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy to remove adhesions. The surgery went successfully however I do have one completely blocked tube. Other than that my doctor says I'm good to continue ttc.

My biggest concern however is that I have spotting before my period which lasts 5-7 days. Sometimes it's quite significant - others it's barely anything. My doctor was not concerned about this at all.....

I'm really concerned and fed up of my body not working properly.

I'm wondering if this is likely to be low progesterone?

If so, is this easy to sort out? Can it be done naturally?

I should add - I suffer greatly with stress :( my life is quite stressful and I don't know how much of this could be from that too? I started having spotting 5-7 days before my period a few years after I was in a bad car accident which made me think it was stress related.

Can anyone advise please? I feel like giving up.

Morning, just searched for low progesterone as I'm also questioning this for myself and came across your thread. Sorry to hear you are struggling. I had a mc at 8 weeks back in October and along with spotting for 7 days before period arrives I've seen that it could be down to low progesterone. I went to the docs yesterday and firstly she didn't seem overly concerned but suggested taking some swabs first to rule out any infections. However I can't see that being the case as I'm not spotting all through my cycle just the days leading upto my period. She said that if nothing comes from the swabs she will do an internal and then blood tests to check the levels. The last thing I want to do is get pregnant and my levels be low to have another loss. So ttc is on hold for the time being until we get to the bottom of it. In the meantime I've taken it upon myself to look at vitamins and specific foods that may help. Vitamin b6 is good for upping the progesterone levels so maybe try that, or just go to your doctor and ask for a blood test. You're only going to be more stressed if you are struggling to get pregnant and that won't help, no harm in asking. I hope you find your answers soon and that you get the BFP you've been dreaming of 🙏🏼

If you have low progesterone it can be treated. You can arrange blood tests to check your levels and you can take progesterone supplements. If your NHS GP is not willing I got the blood tests done for about £60 I think. You could get cheaper via Medicheck or a similar so it yourself blood test.
