Ttc - Thyroid - tsh 15.7

Hello. I have been ttc for 18 months and have just found out that I have subclinical hypothyroidism with a tsh of 15.7. My doctor has put me on 25 levothyroxine, however, I am not sure if it is enough. I have read of lots of people on here with a much lower tsh on a much higher dosage. What do you think?

I had maximum 4.97 TSH and got put on 50. I'm now pregnant after an IVF cycle and am now on 75 even though 50 mcgs kept TSH below 2, so I do think you're on too small a dose to be honest!

Also have subclinical hypothyroid btw but I was told by my Dr that figure over 10 TSH is just hypothyroidism.

Congratulations! I hope you don't mind me asking, do you think IVF was required purely because of your thyroid issues?

@Journeytobabyj no for us IVF was due to severe male factor infertility but IVF clinics want your TSH to be below 2 before doing a transfer to optimise things as it can effect fertility/implantation.

That’s not subclinical and you definitely need a higher dose. I’d also suggest retesting every 4 weeks or so until it’s below 2. My clinic wanted mine between 1-2. I’m expecting and now on 100.

I'm no expert but I was on Thyroxine 25 for a TSH of 4 so I would expect your dose is very low. There is a really helpful group on HealthUnlocked for Thyroid UK. You can post your test results and any questions and they can advise. A lot of members are very knowledgeable. My understanding is that you need a full thyroid panel (which tests most than just TSH and includes B12 and iron) to get a full picture of your situation.
Good luck x

Oh. Thank you so much for your responses. I am incredibly frustrated and angry that I am not being supported appropriately.
