First Frozen Embryo Transfer and worried about diet

Hi all,

I've just had my first FET and due to test on Christmas Day. I'm over 40 so aware that time is running out, but I really struggle with my weight and now I'm worrying how my diet is going to affect the outcome.

I cut out all alcohol and caffeine in drinks, and have been trying to eat healthier. Since the transfer I've been trying to eat much healthier but have had a couple of family gatherings where it's been difficult. I'm now kicking myself as I just had a chocolate brownie when out Christmas shopping which was much larger than expected. Now I'm panicking that I've ruined the chances of the embryo implanting and sticking. Rationally I know that there are lots of reasons why the embryo may fail to stick, but I'm irrationally thinking that I've blown it.

Does anyone have any positive stories of bad food choices where it didn't affect the outcome?

I'm trying not to symptom spot, but it's impossible. I had mild cramps on days 2 & 3 post transfer, nothing yesterday, but now I'm getting slight pains which are also worrying me.

Any thoughts welcome!

Hi, I wouldn't worry about an occasional sweet like you describe! I think blood sugar can be bad for implantation if you eat sugary or processed good almost exclusively, but a treat won't hurt you when you've been doing well with your diet before.

I have a bmi of 29.7 so am overweight and had a successful FET in October, now I'm 10 +1 and saw the baby wriggling around on a scan today :) don't want to get hopes up as it isn't an exact science, but in my case I had cramping on the Sunday after a Thursday transfer, and got my first squinter on the Monday, and first true bfp on the Tuesday morning so cramps can be a good sign! Good luck and fingers crossed!

@Imisscoffee2021 Thanks for your reply and congratulations!!

My BMI is 30.6 so still much higher than I would like, but have to remind myself that I have managed to lose almost 2 stone in the last year. As it's my first round, I think it's just extra stressful as it's all very new. The timings not great in the run up to Christmas with all the nice food and drink around that I can't have!! The egg collection was actually at the end of September, but I had to defer the transfer due to the risk of OHSS.

I'm trying hard to eat well and not get too stressed but it's really hard! We haven't told our friends that we're doing IVF so only really have dh to talk to. I'm so tempted to test early, but trying to resist as I think it will just stress me out even more!
