Low AMH and IVF

Hi everyone,

I’m 37 and after having a fertility check recently have an AMH of 3.5, which is very low for my age. I’ve been advised to start IVF straight away. We’ve been trying to have a baby for a year and no success yet.

We’re based in East London and are currently trying to find a suitable clinic. Unfortunately as I need to start straight away I don’t think NHS will be possible.

Does anyone have any clinic recommendations for London? Currently we’re looking at the following but reviews and success rates seem to be very mixed. Any advise would be super helpful. It’s all a bit overwhelming at the moment!

  • London Womens Clinic
  • ARGC
  • Harley Street Fertility Clinic

Ive been told I’m likely to need up to 3 cycles and only have a 20% chance of conceiving. We’re looking for a place with transparent costs, good customer care (I’ve heard ARGC isn’t great with that) and good success rates.

Thanks!

Naomi

@Naomi270 hi with CRGH Ihave been on mild stim which is meds every other day. Got 1 embryo per cycle. Then we had a few months nothing worked so we changed to meds daily and got 2 embryos from that cycle. With IVF the thing I have learnt is every month is different one month you can have 10 folicles but only retrieve 2 and other months 2 folicles but both retrieved. We started with mild so we had somewhere to go if it didn't work 😊

@SPR40 thanks very much - that’s really useful. Did you go for a 3 cycle package or are you having as many as is needed? I’m a bit worried that if the natural / semi natural ivf doesn’t work I’ll potentially run out of time with my egg reserve and run out of money so unsure whether to just go full steam with all of the medication. Perhaps a cycle of semi natural would be good to try but as you say it varies cycle to cycle so much

@Naomi270 Hi - I did mild/ natural modified with Create this year. I had done a large dose of stims on NHS which resulted in the round with no eggs and was labelled a poor responder.
I asked my NHS consultant about a lower dose of drugs as I had read that may help and they said they only do a large dose as they try to maximise the dose and there are no studies to really back up wither side.
I went to create and my first cycle I did a low dose and got my best results.
I did a 3 cycle package and got fewer eggs constitently but I was monitored and my drugs were adjusted throughout. In my 3 cycles I always banked at least 1 embryo or blast. (I listed results in previous post)
I think the thing to remember is low AMH/ low ovarian reserve is never going to result in huge numbers but if the quality is there in the eggs then you have a chance. Xxx

@Naomi270 apologies for the delay. I was batching so we paid for individual stim cycles and did an elected freeze all. I'm not sure if that could have been part of a package I didn't ask eek! But we had 8 cycles in total and 3 got to egg collection the others either didn't start or were abandoned due to poor response.

We are now in the transferring stage as we set our goal as 4 in the freezer and that took us a year with taking months of for body to have a rest from the meds 😀

Hi everyone im new to mums.net and ive joined to see if i can find advice on my TTC journey ive been TTC naturally for 1 year and now 42 years of age. I have neen diagnosed with fibrouds and I am now considering ivf and would really appreciate it if people could provide some advice experience on clinics in birmingham as its a emotionally challenging and expensive journey and any advice along the way would be very helpful x

HSFC, second round of IVF successful. Our son is now 17 months old. I think their process is brilliant. They were not phased by my low count at all. Community in fertility is who we were treated but all transfers took place at HSFC. 3 rounds of IVF for £6700 including medication. My AMh is really shit for my age.

Tahsha · 13/03/2023 07:29

Hi ive just seen this message thankyou congratulations on your baby did you mean the harley street clinic? That price is also very good for 3 rounds x

PurpleRayne89 · 13/03/2023 12:04

@Tahsha thank you. We used these guys, they use HSFC lab / theatres for procedures and storage.

best wishes with your fertility journey.

Tahsha · 13/03/2023 20:25

Thankyou so much for the info and your wishes will look into them but dont think they are based in birmingham x

No, they’re based London, Surrey & Kent. The doctor is fantastic. You could ask for a recommendation in your area as he might know.

Came across this thread , about to start ivf with diagnosed low AMH (6) and AFC (9), just turned 37 after two miscarriages in the last year. AMH and AFC have reduced seen initial testing in oct last year. @SPR40 I am also with CHRG after being referred for recurrent miscarriage- would be great to hear how you got on. I had initial tests with Kings but a doctor referred me to CHRG so going through with egg collection there. It’s so overwhelming and scary! Hope things are working out for everyone whatever way that looks like xx
