Hello,

I'm currently 29 (Turn 30 early next year) and I have trying for a baby for about 5 years now and ended up starting IVF this year.

I have an irregular cycle - Cycle ranges from 33-41 days cycle.

1st IVF in Sep 2022 - 4AA - Fresh Transfer - Failed (Started to bleed Day 26 - 9DP5DT)

2nd IVF (this round) - 4BB - Frozen Transfer - I was given a different form of progesterone pessaries (Utrogestan 200mg x 3 daily+ Estrogen 2mg x 3daily). For the first time I got a positive result (still very grateful for the experience).

Today is Day 33 | 15 days after 5 day blastocyst transfer

Symptoms

• I have been cramping but nothing different from how it has been for the past few days - Mild
• Nipple sensation but comes and goes - Mild
• Lower back pain - Mild

This afternoon, when I was in inserting the vaginal pessary, I noticed a little blood on the stick. I tried to stay positive and had a nap to stop overthinking.

I woke up and did another pregnancy test (see attached) but then wiped and noticed some blood (see attached but TMI sorry*).

My fear is that the first time my IVF Cycle failed it started with pink blood which eventually turned red.

I'm 4 weeks + 6 Days and even though I'm still bleeding my FRER test is till positive. Is it normal to bleed around this period?

Mind you, on my normal cycle without the medication, my period starts around this time (Day 33-Day41).

Please forgive the rambling and any errors, can’t hold back the tears.

Hey, I'm sorry this is happening. It's such a worry when you get a positive. I think it's hard as nobody can tell you what's going to happen. However, it is very common to have bleeding in early pregnancy and often, everything still works out completely fine. If I was you, I would push with the clinic for a HCG and early scan for reassurance. Wishing you lots of luck.

Thank you so much for your response! I’m trying my best to be hopeful. I will call them tomorrow morning (fingers crossed)

Hi, I'm 9 weeks pregnant today wjrh an ivf pregnancy, and had a much worse bleed twice between 5 and 6+4 weks. Both times a day after a transvaginal scan and both times from my cervix as its very vascular from pregnany and irritated by the daily pessaries. My last two scans I haven't had a bleed so it's calming down a touch but it freaked me out, but baby measuring 2 days ahead and has a strong heartbeat so despite them it's been doing absolutely fine! Spotting is common in ivf pregnancies according to my clinic.
Definitely worth getting checked though, congratulations on your bfp! X

@Dragonlady3 @Imisscoffee2021 Hello ladies..

I called the Fertility centre this morning and they booked me in for a blood test to measure my HCG. I should get my results tomorrow or Monday.

I will keep this post updated x

Have you had any news? Ths happened to me around 6 weeks dp5dt and I was convinced that was it but all good now 17 weeks. Can you get a scan to check heartbeat? Thats the most reassuring thing

@Dragonlady3 @Imisscoffee2021 @Watermonkey13

I called the fertility centre this morning and they booked me in for a blood test (which I have done). They said it is too early to scan but hopefully my HCG levels can give them a better understanding of what is happening.

I should get the results by tomorrow or worse case Monday.

Just wiped and saw some more blood this evening (forgive the image).

Just got a call back from the fertility centre… Blood test came back positive and HCG is reading 2373 🎉😩🎉😩🎉 (Test done at exactly 5weeks).

The Dr mentioned that the bleed may be from my cervix reacting to the progesterone vaginal capsules, but I have to continue taking them.

This morning I inserted it through the back door, just to give the cervix a little break. I will go back to inserting it vaginally though, as I rather play it safe than sorry.

Thank you soooo much for responding and keeping me as sane as can be ❤️❤️❤️! May God protect every single one of you and grant us healthy beautiful babies ❤️❤️❤️

What progesterone are you on? Cyclogest is fine front or back (and lots of people put it in the back I think to avoid irritating the cervix), utrogestan is front only

PeaceNBliss · 11/12/2022 14:18

@DaffodilSunshine I am on Utrogestan 200mg x 3 daily.

First and last time using it through the back this morning. Even though I felt no side effects or issues, will not be doing that again 😅

Ok, yes definitely front only for that. If you've been using the applicators, try just inserting with a finger instead as it'll be a little further away from your cervix and less chance of irritating anything than when using the applicators
