Ivf cycle low beta but rising... Fearful

After round of IVF where i had an initially lowish beta at 14dp5dt. It has risen reasonably. Latest is an almost doubling to 413. I would be 6 weeks tomorrow. I was prepared to be told today that hcg was going down as i bled a fair bit on sat/sun. Stopped tho on Monday and just spotting since. I am really worried about it being ectopic. Was mentally prepared that i was miscarrying but now up the walls about it being ectopic.

Any insights anyone about this. When would i expect to feel pain if it is ectopic. Back on friday for another beta. Sorry if this is not in the right place but struggling for years with infertility and it has worn me mentally.

Heya, I know the worry from an IVF bfp. I was also worried so I got an early private scan, its the only thing that can rule out an ectopic and check that there is a pregnancy and it is in the right place. The sonographer can also measure the embryo and make sure its measuring right for the gestation time. Hope things progress well for you and your beta has doubled next time x

Thanks for your reply. Yes, the clinic does early scans. The problem is that my hcg is too low to be able to detect an ectopic pregnancy right now. I'm afraid all I can do is wait and see. I'm just anxious...

Hi @Marple03, I had a similar experience. Mine did start to rise much quicker though. My clinic told me that even with a low HCG, they would scan at 6 weeks. If nothing can be seen at that stage and HCG is still rising, its likely to be ectopic, as mine was. I don't want to scare you but my recommendation would be to push for an early scan and a referral to the early pregnancy unit if they can't see anything. Don't let them fob you off and keep pushing. I really hope I'm wrong and it all works out for you, but I think with levels that low at this stage, it's unlikely. I'm really sorry, I know how awful it feels.
