Is anyone here that had ovarian drilling and can share with me their experience?

Did it work ? Did you get pregnant?

I would love to hear yours stories as I had my OD one month ago, period came after 4 weeks by it self !!!! For the first time.

Hi Romona. Hope you don’t mind such a late response but just thought I’d join you here. I also had my laparoscopy procedure and ovarian drilling / dye test last Wednesday so currently home recovering and wondering if this will help us…

can see from your message you had a period for the first time 4 weeks after your op, were your periods AWOL before too? I came off my pill in June 21 and have never had a natural period without any fertility treatment since. Actually had my first natural period following a cycle of clomid and the trigger shot just before Christmas. Have never ovulated on my own though but 100mg of clomid and the trigger shot seems to do the trick for me, but haven’t had any luck with a pregnancy yet unfortunately.

My consultant has advised me to wait and see if a period arrives but either way I’ll have to get back in touch with the nurses in a few weeks to try a few more clomid rounds before we have to IVF.

how are you getting since your message?

@cbear1989
Thank you for your response! I haven't get much help from the NHS so I thought I will ask here but also quiet...

Yes, I had my first period after 4 weeks of procedure. Unfortunately now I haven't bleed for about 2 months, I am swollen, having cramps but no period yet 😞I dont know if I have ovulated as I was so much staff going on that I was keep forgetting to do the tests.
I have appointment with doctor on the 8th and hope she will send me for the blood test so see whats going on.
I am not going to lie... I have lost the hope.

sorry to hear youre frustrated @Ramona19 i totally feel your pain on that front! the waiting around for answers or to try again is one of the worst bits isnt it...

what's your background with your treatment so far? have you been able to ovulate on your own or have you used Clomid or any other ovulation induction medication?

good news that youve had a period although strange that you havent since. have you got a consultant or are you with your GP? my consultant has told me to get in touch with the nurses for a scan to start clomid again. hopefully after a natural period but if not as a random start. just wondered if theyd done any monitoring with you?

i know its so tough, stay strong youve got this!!

@cbear1989
Ive got one boy (9) following 3 miscarriages, I always knew I have pcos, tubes are fine.
I haven't ovulate since last miscarriage which was in 2018 when I had Letrozole which also didn't help ovulate so the last option from nhs was drilling.
Unfortunately my doctor is really hard to get with on, she didn't suggest any scans after the surgery or anything, on the day of my surgery I was told I am now discharged from the clinic...
So I am starting again my journey with GP.
I would love to make an complaint how bad I was treated but I dont know where to start.
Maybe if I would get a better help from nhs my mental health would be much better.

Bless you it sounds like youve had a really tough time with. Def get back onto your GP and get a referral to a consultant, hopefully that'll help get things moving in the right direction for you.

lots of luck x

@cbear1989 @Ramona19 hi - I've just discovered this thread as I had the ovarian drilling procedure last week and really keen to understand what next steps I can expect? How are you both getting on, as it's been 3 months since you originally chatted/posted?

Bit of my background, came off pill last year, no periods, diagnosed with lean PCOS so consultant suggestion going straight for the drilling procedure. Now waiting to see if a period arrives/I ovulate...⏰

cbear1989 · 30/05/2023 14:57

Hi, how are you feeling?

Funnily enough I'm more confused than ever. I've had a few months off my treatment because I was so stressed out and have literally just started a new course of clomid.

Didn't have a period after my procedure in January however after starting up clomid again in May the nurse found a cyst that commonly forms after you ovulate so they suspect I mightve ovulated myself although I still didn't have a period. all very strange.

In terms of what to expect I had no symptoms or changes after my procedure (apart from my secret ovulation). you sound like you're in the same boat as me as I just don't have periods either but you never know your body could react differently. Good luck!!

xx

sl7uk · 30/05/2023 15:34

@cbear1989 thank you for your reply, much appreciated! Recovery wise all fine, the wound sites are still a bit tender, but other than that, all good.

After your OD procedure, did you track anything like body temp or use OPKs? And how soon after did you start Clomid? My consultant has let me decide how long I want to wait to see if I ovulate on my own versus starting ovulation induction and I'm not sure how long I should leave it! I don't want to lose too much time as I find the waiting the hardest part of this whole fertility process x

cbear1989 · 30/05/2023 16:22

I didn't track anything to be honest as my body is just very strange so I literally just had a few months off to rest my kind 🤣🤣 maybe that is why I ovulated who knows... I've given up trying to second-guess!

have you taken clomid or anything before the procedure? I'd done about 5 or 6 unsuccessful rounds so as much as I felt exactly the same and really didn't want to take a break I think its actually the best thing I could've done to help get my head straight. I had my procedure end of Jan and went in for my scan to start taking clomid about 2-3 weeks ago. I actually felt ovulation symptoms very mildly early May time but didn't think too much of it but I suspect of I did ovulate myself that's when it was but I guess I'll never really know. with that in mind it took my body about 3 months. hope that helps and keep in touch if you have any developments! I have 3 more clomid rounds then we have to move to ivf so I have everything crossed we have some luck before that but its out of my control so can only hope for the best. sending you lots of luck too xx

cbear1989 · 30/05/2023 16:25

rest my mind* 🤣🤣

sl7uk · 30/05/2023 17:17

I haven't taken any medication yet. Based on my AMH levels (which were wildly high), my consultant suggested I'd be unlikely to respond to Clomid/Letrozole without the ovulation drilling procedure to help create some space for my eggs to be released.

My plan is to see if anything happens on it's own for the next 6 weeks (and I'm fully expecting nothing to happen!) and then straight onto Letrozole. Am I right in saying you can't do too many rounds of Clomid/Letrozole as you can get ovarian hyperstimulation? That might be a PCOS only issue!

Best of luck with your next 3 Clomid rounds!! 🙏I had a friend who went onto FSH injections after failed Clomid which worked and prevented her having to do IVF. Would that be an option for you? x

cbear1989 · 30/05/2023 22:43

Ah okay that's interesting. if it helps I also had very high AMH and have reacted pretty well to clomid. tried one Letrzole round mid way and nothing happened at all so switched back to clomid as letrozole did nothing to grow my follicles. clomid alone didn't make me ovulate but after doubling up the dosage and doing the trigger shot I've ovulated every time that way. had good follicle griwth with clomid. obviously everyone is different so you might have more luck with letrozole than clomid compared to me.

Yeah you are right you can only have a certain number of rounds, that's why I'm on my last three now so I'm just praying we get lucky.

Not heard of the FSH injections but will ask my consultant if we aren't successful. really don't want the stress of IVF but we shall see what happens I guess!

Good luck with your treatment and let us know how you get on!x

Hello Ladies,

Sorry I haven't replied but been really busy lately.
So I had my procedure in Nov last year. And only last month I did ovulated for the first time, it was confirmed on the scan, I did ovulated on my 20th day of the cycle although blood test showed that I haven't realised the egg.🤷🏻‍♀️but also on this scan the doctor confirmed that there is no sign of pcos and that my ovaries are healed. Is it even possible?

This cycle I did ovulated on my 16th day which was last week on Tuesday and then I have been send for the 21day progesterone blood test to see if The egg has been realised. I dont know why but I do feel that I dis get pregnant. I never had this feeling before. But I dont want to start testing like crazy and then find out that the egg was not realised lol 😂.
I am picking up my blood test results today and I will keep you posted.

Btw I did give up and have no hope whatsoever.
