IVF - Early Blastocyst Transfer

I'm in the middle of my third round of IVF and when we got to transfer day our 4 embryos hadn't made it to blastocyst stage (they were not gradable, early blastocysts). They cultivated two of them to day 6 (neither progressed) and transferred two back in. I can't help but feel that our chances are over before they've really begun. It's our last chance too - in the past 3 months I've had 30 eggs collected and managed to get one blastocyst which didn't implant. Are there any success stories out there of early blastocysts being replaced on day 5 that did result in pregnancy?

Hi Amy - Really sorry to read your update and I'm in a very similar situation. Had an early blastocyst transferred on Wednesday (I'm 5 days post-transfer now). I feel completely without hope - from 15 eggs, 11 were mature, 9 fertilised and then on day 5 we were told they were all pretty much growing slower than they'd like. The only full blastocyst (still not sure on the terminology) wasn't great quality, so they chose this one, which they couldn't grade as too early. It's only my first cycle, but I'm 39 in February and so time isn't on my side. So, I've pretty much written it off in my mind. However, not that I would let myself believe this, I have seen other messages on here of success stories, so here's hoping we can add to them in the next few weeks? I'd also be very keen to hear any success stories!

Hi, please tell me you were both successful with your fresh transfers? I had mine yesterday & it was very early blastocyst they couldn't grade. The other embryos didn't develop so this is our last chance due to the cost of it all.

I'm really sorry to say @FETmum that mine wasn't successful unfortunately. That being said, during this time I spent a lot of time googling etc and found lots of success stories of people in the same situation as us, so please don't lose hope. I am having a little break from IVF at present - I found the emotional rollercoaster very hard and after a family bereavement at Christmas I just don't want to go through that again. I'm 39 in Feb, but just can't face it. I wish you all the luck in the world for this transfer.

Thanks so much and I totally know what you mean! I'm 38 and tired of it all, praying this works for us. Wishing you all the success whatever you choose for the future.

Hi @FETmum

I'm sorry to say that we were unsuccessful too. But the nurse at the clinic did tell me that there was a lady there who had two day 4 embryos transferred on day 5 and she was now pregnant with twins so don't lose hope. I'm so sorry I couldn't give you the positive message you were hoping for. The 2ww is horrible so please drop me a message if you need support, and try to take some time to care for you. Xx

Thank you your response. Woken up today not feeling very positive. Stupidly done a test and of course it was negative. I'm not convinced it was a decent embryo, they couldn't even grade it. Anyway, must keep myself busy with work. Wishing you all baby dust for whatever the future holds.
