Low AMH and over 40

Hi All, I'm new to this I just wanted to join to see if anyone else is going through similar. I came off the pill few years ago - was without period for over a year, I'm now 40 and my cut off for IVF is end of this year as I low egg reserve AMH 1.2 follicle count 8. I started the process at 38.

I went to the doctors had lots of tests they referred me to fertility and it's been such a slow process.

Chance of ivf success is 1 out of 10. We get 1 free go and can't afford more goes, wouldn't get into debt with such low chances.

I also have a blocked Fallopian tube which reduces my chances again by 50% I feel heartbroken, fertility haven't been great at all my results were lost and communication between doctors / hospital and fertility has been appalling.

Has anyone else caught on naturally with such low chances? We feel extremely pressured and we are not convinced we should go down the ivf route ....

Hi - I am 36 and had a follicle count of 8 and AMH of 6.

I did a round of ivf on the nhs which was unsuccessful as they do not tailor to people with low amh / low ovarian reserve.

We then went private and looked at clinics who specialise in my issues and were given a 10% chance of success.
I am now 15 weeks pregnant after my first transfer.

Unfortunately you won't know if IVF will work for you unless you try. But we tried for 3 years naturally with no conception.
IVF was seen as out only chance.

Wishing you lots of love and luck. It's such a hard process when trying to conceive! Xx

That's such great news @Scarlett868 🙏🏼 so many people say just have the nhs go but the way the clinic has treated us so far I am very reluctant....

Thanks so much for you comment I will look into things further x

Hi Scarlett congratulations on your pregnancy! Great news! Do you mind me asking what clinic you went to?

Scarlett868 · 15/11/2022 06:53

@Lils1880 thank you! We went to Create in St Paul's :)

I would give your NHS cycle a try. It might not be perfect, but it's worth a go. Our one NHS cycle gave us our two babies.

How are you getting on OP? I’m just about to start ivf at 37 with low AMH and AFC and having had x2 miscarriages in the last year. I’m going to hopefully test any embryos to check they are normal to try and avoid a future miscarriage. Would love to hear any positive stories as I am feeling very low. Hope all is well whatever way that looks like xxx
