PCOS and Clomid

Hello everyone
I'm very new to this so apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place. I was just wondering if anyone could help or share any success stories.

I have Pcos since I can remember and after trying for years and years I got pregnant for the first time in April. I never have a period so I used Provera to induce a period and then I took Clomid (day 2-6) and monitored my ovulation. This unfortunately ended in a miscarriage at 6 weeks and I never had another period. I then took Provera again in June however due to various reasons I was not able to monitor ovulation so not sure if I did ovulate or not but did not get my positive 😞

I have taken Provera again this month which has currently induced a bleed and I am taking Clomid again (day 2-6) however I am worrying sick about whether it will actually work again or not, or if I just got lucky in April...

Would love to hear any success stories or experiences

I took the lowest dose of clomid with my second child. Some cycles I ovulated earlier, some not so much. It didn't make a huge difference compared to what I would have managed myself naturally, but it did appear to support the luteal phase strongly as my luteal length was longer and temps higher. I think it was about 9-10 cycles as we were expecting to have to stop and I remember being anxious about that. I had a miscarriage just before going on clomid, one during and then a successful pregnancy who is 11 years old. In retrospect, when I actually ovulated used to vary more on clomid. It made things harder to time in some ways so take close note of other fertility symptoms like EWCM, cervix position, etc.

I would probably try something like ovusense in combination with clomid now. I think it potentially gives you more of an accurate heads-up of the fertile window. LH tests do work for me to show a surge, but I didn't use those before and probably should have but they felt too clinical for me then. I use an ava bracelet myself now.

Thank you so much for your reply. I took 50mg in April and got pregnant first time after trying to conceive naturally for years. I just got a little anxious as it didnt work the second time right but maybe I was expecting too much because of my first experience.

i've never heard of Ovusense but I will defo look it up, I'm desperate to try anything to get pregnant this month 😩

I think they can up the dose to 100mg or 150mg. I was on 50mg all the way through.

My ov days were:
1: CD34
2: 25-26
3: 14 (+ve, but m/c)
4: 21
5: 14
6: 31
7: 13
8: 17 (+ve)

You could potentially argue for a higher dose. I probably should have, but I think we thought it was working on after the 3rd cycle and we had just been unlucky.

It's the irregularity that makes things trickier for me though whether or not I take clomid. I think my body wasn't as well regulated then as it was now as I was having such a variety of cycle lengths. Also, I had crazy mood swings on clomid that were pretty unbearable.

Ive been taking it at night so not really felt any of the side effects finger crossed. I've not asked for a higher dose as 50mg worked for me first time so hoped for the best

Even with my first pregnancy, it was cycle day 20 I ovulated on, so I never normally would any earlier than then. Now it's settled to about cycle day 21-27 which is a good enough fertile window for us to try to hit.

I think the benefit with clomid is it can make you ovulate earlier, so you end up with many more cycles, which speeds things along. It's just you have to be hyper aware of when your fertile window is coming with other fertility signs like egg white cervical fluid, high/soft/open cervix. I did used to check those then, but don't tend to need to now. The book 'taking charge of your fertility' was really good which I read it back then.
