Confused by results…

Hi Everyone

Hoping someone might be able to help interpret these results…
We have just had our final set of results back from the fertility clinic who have advised IVF (probably ICSI) due to MFI.
All tests I have had have come back normal/good. BUT, I am very confused about my AMH result which has been recorded in our letter as 17.3… (and FSH 5.4), followed by the sentence ‘showing that you have good egg reserve’.

Now obviously that is good, however I have gone straight to google (can’t help - have to see the results framed somehow - sorry) and the 17.3 seems VERY high.
Could anyone make any suggestions? Perhaps measured using different units? I don’t have any symptoms of PCOS but now I’m starting to wonder…

Sorry for the dry, boring nature of this question but would be helpful if anyone can offer any insight.

☺️☺️

If you're UK 17.3 is an average to good figure, mine was 20.1 at one clinic and 16.7 at another and I'm 34. If you're older than 39 that's a high AMH you have, how old are you? Either way you should respond well to stims hopefully:) I had my first cycle in August, faint chemical unfortunately but got some frosties to try next :)

Thanks @Imisscoffee2021 thats really helpful. The google search results suggest that anything over 2 is unusual so was unsure.
Im 38 so hopefully that’s a good sign for us!!

@Imisscoffee2021 best of luck with the frosties!! It’s such a bumpy road but we are so lucky to have the science available to us.
We have pretty much decided to go for it but there is SO much to think about. I talked to my friend the other day (medical but non IVF related) and she said she’s just a ‘read the pamphlet, listen to the doc ‘ kind of girl. How ON EARTH do people not obsessively google the hell out of everything!! I am in awe of them 😊

That's a really good AMH for 38 I think :)There are two different units if measurement, if you search pmol/l thats the measure youve been given. Best of luck with your IVF journey!

@Libertypancake googling and learning alot can be really useful, when you are about to start it's so useful to join a group on here of ladies going through it at same time, so much changes clinic to clinic and everyone's on different protocols and meds, so complicated at times!

@Imisscoffee2021 yes I think it does help to feel more informed. Only bloody thing you’ve got control over!!

Can I ask how many eggs you got versus how many you were able to freeze?? And is it MFI in your situation as well??

@Libertypancake We gave MFI due to a severe varicocele. We tried to have it embolised bit the surgery didnt work as hubby is in the 10% of men this happens to! So we went right to ICSI. I had a funny month where my AFC (antral follicle count) went from consistently 21 and 20, down to 11 for the month of IVF! It does fluctuate but that was a dip! Not all follicles have an egg and not all develop fast enough with the others, so wasn't expecting 11 eggs. Got 7 on egg collection, all mature and all fertilised. We were waiting daily to hear how many stopped developing as I'm sure you've read with MFI there are problems like DNA fragmentation etc, but all 7 made it to day 5, we had one hatching top grade transferred and 5 frozen on that day, and the 6th slowed down a little so wasn't frozen on day 6. So 6 blastocysts altogether which was fab! All top or good grade, though of course doesn't always mean a positive test as we can vouch for on last cycle. Feels good to have 5 frosties there though:)
