Spontaneous ovulation prior to egg retrieval..?

I did warn my clinic that I ovulate quickly after my LH peak (as in, often the same day).

I did try to ask them ‘what would happen’ if it happened to me.

I didn’t get an answer to that question but I did get informed, “it won’t happen, we are controlling your cycle through the medication.”

The nurse then told the consultant that I had been “panicking” about it. Nope, not panicked. I was sharing information about my body and asking what plan B would be.

Well. I triggered last night at 10pm. Egg collection is tomorrow at 10am.

I’ve just done a test and have a blazing peak LH. I will ovulate before 10am tomorrow.

I am so upset that I wasn’t listened to. And that all these 24 injections and three weeks of hell have been for nothing.

Hi @1in200 , I feel your pain and anxiety. After 16 minths TTC I know my body, and I always ovulate in 12 to 24 hours after an LH surge. I spoke to the nurses about it and although they heard me out and asked how I knew etc etc, they still said that it shouldn't happen it's rare *though not unheard of) and that the trigger is biologically similar to LH hormone but not the same so body won't react the same way. I also felt ovulation pains the next day and spend a day in anxiety, every step hurt my ovaries which usually happens to one when I've ovulated, and I felt like my pelvis was full of fluid from all those ruptured follicles. Just before the egg collection I was pacing the room feeling so so tender and convinced I'd ovulated, but I hadn't! They got more eggs than they thought even. I hope its the same for you, and that the experts are right. It does happen unfortunately but its very rare, just wanted to share my experience as an early ovukator after a surge. I had a blazing LH surge after thr trigger too as well as a blazing positive pregnancy test of course, with it being HCG. What was your trigger? Mine was gonasi. Best of luck for egg collection, and if it turns out you did ovulate despite warning the clinic you'd be well within your right to argue another cycle for free/on top of NHS allowance if this is an NHS one.

Thank you for the reassurance @Imisscoffee2021. My trigger was Ovitrelle. I feel so bloated and uncomfortable!

Mine was gonasi, I was so tender on the morning of egg collection, every step was throbbing in my pelvis and I felt full of gas so was very relieved when they got 7 eggs. All were mature and all fertilised too so they knew what they were doing! Good luck, is your collection tomorrow?
