Success after cervical dilatation?

Hi all,

Just had a miserable couple of days. On Thursday i had a mid cycle catheter test which was brutal. Absolutely shut tight, could not get anything through, and of course no pain relief.

Yesterday I was brought in under GA for them to perform a dilatation. It did work, but the doctor said it was quite tricky and I've to be sedated again for the embryo transfer. I'm pretty sore so I think they have had to be quite brutal, but hey if it works.

Anyway, just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? Any success stories for me to cling on to?

Xx

@busybee345 I have a pin hole cervix, couldn't have a HSG. They said I'd need to be sedated for transfer after dilation. However at EC they did a dummy transfer and was successful ( as the instruments are much smaller so I didn't need to be sedated)

My 2nd cycle worked I'm a cautiously optimistic 12+3 ( 12 week scan next week)

Good Luck

@busybee345
my first ever transfer was abandoned as, despite their best efforts, they were unable to insert the catheter into my cervix. Fortunately they were able to refreeze the embryo and I was referred for a cervical dilation. The surgeon said afterwards that he had completed it with great difficulty but he was confident that all would be good thereafter. I had the same embryo transferred successfully around a month later and had a positive result and a successful pregnancy. I then went on to have a further FET and worried it would be an issue again but was assured that as I had a vaginal birth previously they expected everything would be ok. I had that transfer without any sedation and it was so plain sailing it could not believe it!

wishing you the best of luck!
