ABC ivf donor sperm

I have decided to go have ivf with donor sperm and be a single mom by choice.
I had my baseline on the 6th Sep and my phone consultation the next day the 7th Sep. Everything went great, 20 follicles and the people that work there are so nice…but I have to keep sending emails to my coordinator to chase up to start treatment. They keep saying they will get the embryology team to get in touch with me but I haven’t heard anything yet.
Has anybody had any experience with having donor ivf with abc fertility?
Thanks kindly

I haven’t had donor, however my overall experience with ABC was dreadful. There’s a reason why they’re cheaper.

They booked my follow-up appointment for the wrong location, refused to accept my history from the hospital and sent it back, then recently they refused to rearrange an appointment when I had covid.

I’ve cut my losses and I’m trying another company.

Hi Kate,

I think we're a bit behind you in the process but we (lesbian couple) are also going to be doing IVF with donor sperm through ABC. We're going through Leeds. We had the scan and screening bloods on 28th September and phone consultation 4th October. The phone consultation just briefly outlined the results of the bloods (all fine) but didn't go over drugs or anything. At that point we contacted London Sperm Bank to get the ball rolling with having our sperm sent to ABC as ABC advised they have to do their own checks before accepting it and that can take 2-4 weeks (!!!)

I received an email yesterday morning from our patient coordinator and emailed her back straight away, looking to book in the treatment consultation - to at least have that part ticked pending delivery of the sperm.

I haven't heard back from her yet and phoned this morning to chase but no call back yet. I feel like I'm hassling them but just keen to get everything ticked off.

What is it the embryologist needs to contact you about? Have you had your treatment consultation to discuss the meds etc?

Hey

I have since heard from the embryology department after chasing them up. They sent me details of how and who to order sperm from. I chose one from there own bank (Create) They then sent me a donor matching form I had to fill in as required by the HFEA. I did all this on Monday and I am now waiting to here from the finance team so I can pay for it as my sperm isn’t reserved until I’ve paid for it. I haven’t had my treatment consultation yet.

how are you getting on? 😊@Kate123456789

Hey
I started my treatment on the 25th October and I had a fresh embryo transfer and 3 frozen embryos but unfortunately the embryo didn’t stick. I am going to try again in January though.

As soon as my sperm was in the clinic that I had treatment with I felt everything moved quite fast.

How are you getting on? Have you started treatment yet? 🙂

@Kate123456789 ah sorry to hear it didn't work first time around but glad to hear you had three good enough to be frozen. Fingers crossed for January! We had a fresh transfer on 3rd Nov and should be 8w tomorrow. Had a scan at 6w3d and saw the heartbeat which was amazing. Got another scan tomorrow and hoping all's well as all my symptoms seem to have pretty much disappeared (bar tiredness!)

Ah wow congrats! 😃
I’ve heard it’s normal for pregnancy symptoms to come and go in early pregnancy.

Would you mind me asking what grade your embryo was that you transferred? My frozen one’s are 4bb, 3bb and 3cc. I just think that 2 of them maybe not so good quality but I do think that the clinic would not of frozen them if they weren’t good enough.

@Kate123456789 the grading between days 3 and 5 is slightly different (if I remember rightly) but the day 3 one we transferred was 9 cells grade 1. In the run up to date 5, we still had 3 in the running for being frozen but only 1 was good enough quality so I think they must be quite particular. The one we had frozen was 5BA apparently but I haven't looked too much into how good that is!
