Hi everyone, im due to start stimming tomorrow! My clinic has only booked me for one scan which will be on day 10 of stims, everyone else seems to have 2-3 scans. Please someone tell me that they also only had one scan too

You're better off querying it now with the clinic, it doesn't sound right, even the very rubbish clinic I went to did more than one scan.
Not to say your treatment couldn't work with only one scan but the reaction to stims should imo be monitored more than once. Good luck with it.

Is this an NHS clinic?

ivf2022 · 10/09/2022 08:06

I only had one scan at around 10 days at my clinic then egg collection a few days later x

I doubt you'll have just one scan. They'll probably book you for the next scan depending on how things are looking at your first one. I ended up going every other day. But that makes more sense than trying to guess how often you'll need to go and then cancelling slots.

I stimmed 9 days in total, had first scan on 7th day and then another on 9th and took my last menopur that evening, triggered the evening after. The more monitoring scans the better you'd think, so they can adjust meds if needs be? Sounds like a one size fits all treatment so should query it really, just because it's NHS should still be designed around you. It's not because of the queen's funeral is it? Random as it sounds but NHS don't do scans and collections etc on bank holidays.

We were NHS for our cycle and had scans every second or third day. I'd definitely query a lack of scans before day 10 - that feels a very long time to go without monitoring what's happening!

How often are they checking your bloods?

@Cookiechoc I'm having the same issue with my clinic at the moment. They won't scan until day 10 of stims. When queried, they said they'll get all the information they need from a blood test that they've scheduled for day 5 of stims. I'm not sure if it's right or wrong, but just need to trust the experts at this stage. Have you had anymore information from them? Good luck with your cycle X

I had IVF last year with Create Fertility and had scans every 2-3 days untill egg collection and I think I had a blood test every time as well.

5 days after starting the injection and after the scan that day I had a call in the evening that my hormone levels were low so they told me to increase the dose that evening, so please query this with your clinic. It doesn’t sound right as they need to keep an eye on your eggs, ovaries etc.

I do think it's because the Queens funeral has made Monday a bank hol and they're just not doing the scans that day anymore, feels like the wrong thing to do when it's health related! For my stims I had 9 days, and if I'd kept going after without triggering I'd have lost a few of the bugger follicles, they'd have overmatured and gone over so really the more scans the better. Could they not fit one in on day 4 or 5 of stimming, well before the Monday?

Bigger follicles 😖
