First iui with unexplained infertility TWW

Hi everyone, myself and DH have just had our first cycle of iui after ttc for 2 years with no luck. All tests have shown no issues with myself or my partner so we are presumed to have unexplained infertility which is very frustrating! Is anyone else in the same boat?

i am 9 days post insemination so i cant stop thinking about all the symptoms im feeling but then get confused if this could be the medication i was given (trigger shot once and progesterone pessaries twice daily for 2 weeks) or i could be mega stressed or could be pregnant!

I am 25 and DH is 28 so we do have a little but of time but the whole process is so draining its difficult for anyone around me to empathise and understand as they haven’t been through any baby struggles.

me and DH are desperate to have our first child and get our family started. This TWW is torture!!!!
any tips on how to get through the time until testing?

First IUI - unexplained infertility
OK, so had first iui procedure this week- fingers crossed 🤞

Background : 2 years of unexplained fertility - initially had low vitamin D & iron levels, got those balanced out . Thyroid was slightly over preferred levels as needs to be below 2.5 so i was prescribed 25mg eltroxin. HSG showed no abnormalities & ovarian reserves & ovulation all okay, hubbies sperm also normal, so all unexplained really.

Opted for IUI procedure as recommended by specialist. brought in for baseline scan 4 days before my period was due. A temporary hormonal cyst was present ( very normally apparently) so brought back in on day 2 of my period again. Cyst was gone thankfully & was told iui prep could begin.

Started on low dose 50ml of Gonal f injections for 7 days , nurse showed me how to use them & their honestly easy to self administer . Brought in for scan day 8 , 2 follicles showed up yay !! One on both ovaries but just not at right size so carried on with gonal injections for another 3 days....back in for another scan & got green light to proceed. 2 follicles, one measured 17 & other 14. Nurse administered the Ovulation trigger shot & I attended following day for iui procedure. Have to admit ,we (mainly , I ) were quiet nervous /anxious day before procedure & i felt a bit nauseous ( could be gonal f too, lol ) .we busied ourselves to keep our minds occupied.

Team we was dealing with were lovely put us at ease . Hubbie arrived that morning & did semen sample .My apt was 1.5 hours later. I arrived in , lab will trible check semen sample is correct & ask you to verify yours & partners name ,dob ,address a few times. Procedure is very very similar to having a pap smear , i had a little cramping after but am told that's normal enough . After the apt I was told take pregnancy test on a certain date so it's a waiting game🙏 ....

So an update ...went for iui procedure in Sept but wasn't a success . Obviously we were both gutted & as much as we said we wouldn't get our hopes up ,we kind of did . So next step was straight to ivf ...we had our initial consult with our nursing specialist who talked us through the full ivf process, steps & meds . Must admit we came away daunted but also hopeful in that ,well if this is the path then we're going on the journey. I was placed on whats called long cycle ivf .This means a first step was on day 1 of my next cycle I would take the pill for 3 weeks & ivf process would then begin.

So hubbie & I decided seeing as we were going to be starting ivf & dealing with the stresses that come with it, then we'd book ourselves a holiday & just relax , eat & have a few drinks .So returned from hols ,date was looming for date my period to artive . As I had iui procedure only last month I thought my cycle might be a little thrown off ...but no sign of period so took pregnancy test when I came back from hols & guess what - it came up Positive 💓.Genuinely shocked but we are over the moon . Early days- 6 weeks today & going for early scan next week to check all going ok x
Alot of ppl say just relax & it will happen which can be stressful in itself to hear & upsetting, but honestly I think we'd given up getting pregnant naturally so relaxed a bit & maybe that helped . Wishing everyone lots of luck as it can sometimes be a lonely journey & that our story gives others some hope xxx

@T82 wow congratulations so inspiring to hear. did my first iui and it wasnt a success and i was crushed now am relaxing trusting God for his time
