Metformin experiences

A woman really struggling with PCOS here. My scans showed a collection of cysts on my ovaries and also one on my spleen. My symptoms are very prominent and I have them daily. I'm so tired of it all and am really struggling - I can't stop crying over it these days (probably because of hormones too)

My doctor has prescribed me metformin and I'm due to start it tomorrow. Has anyone else tried it? Did it help? Any side effects? Every person differs obviously but just to get a general consensus

@pinkandprosecco i have PCOS and currently TTC. Same as you loads of cysts on my ovaries, main symptoms were really irregular periods, missing for 3 months then I would have one last 2/3 weeks etc. I also very rarely ovulate

I went to a private gynaecologist who prescribed me metformin to start with before potentially clomid. I started taking metformin about a week after my period stopped (9 days ago) and on day 18 of my cycle I ovulated for the first time in months!! Reallt strong ovulation I had all the symptoms and a really strong test etc, it could be a fluke but I really think it’s down to the metformin. Even if I’ve ovulated before it’s been day 29 etc

Symptoms wise I was told to start on 1 tablet per day and then 2 for the second week, 3 for the 3rd etc. I have had some bloating and felt nauseas most days/didn’t want to eat. I usually have a massive sweet tooth and nothing sweet even appeals to me, this did subside after day 5/6 but then I upped it to 2 tablets and it’s started again.
