Ivf treatment

Hi,

I’m at the beginning & just about to sign consent forms for ivf. My clinic has already sent me the invoice which 7,000 for the ivf cycle. Is it normal to pay up front? Also if they manage to make more then one good embryo & the first transfer doesn’t work will they continue to use the other embryos? Is this included in the cost or do I just pay extra for the next transfer? I don’t want to pay 7000 again! So what I’m saying is will the use all good embryos & this is still classed as the first cycle?

Hello!

It really depends on your clinic. I assumed because a "round" is technically one medicated down regulation & stimulation (or just stim if short protocol) then an egg collection, then a fresh transfer and any other blastocysts frozen and transferred until you have a pregnancy or run out that the cost would include that. I was shocked to death to find this isn't the case, even on NHS they often just fund one fresh and one frozen transfer.

I've gone private to try and avoid the NHS waiting times and found they charge about 2 grand PER frozen transfer. I doubt at £7000 you're getting all frozen embryos transferred tbh, depending on clinic. I looked into the financial aid they had at my clinic and went with a multicycle package which cost £8850 for IVF with ISCI (doesn't include meds which were another £1800). This covers all frozen transfers until you run out or have a live birth, otherwise we were looking at £2000 per frozen transfer with them.

I'd say have a thorough read of exactly what you're getting at that price and if it doesn't cover everything then look into access fertility or your clinics own deals.

Good luck, I'm about to start stims today so any questions do ask :)

Forgot to say my multicycle package is two full rounds too, if were successful first try we will have over spent by 2 grand but tbh I wouldn't care! We have MFI so forsee it taking a few tries so wanted as many chances without spending yet more money on each frozen transfer.

@Hailey12 I would expect it includes all FET too but these are def questions you need to put to your clinic and fully understand before you start. We used the Access fertility package at the second clinic we went with and they were very clear as to what was / wasn’t included. Once you know what your clinics price includes, Might be worth comparing to know if it’s reasonable or not. Access was available at 2 of the 3 clinics we went to before signing up. Good luck

Thank you I’m chatting with access tomorrow about packages! Hoping that will be cheaper & include fet!
