Hi. Today is Monday.
I have just had my first freeze all cycle ahead of a surgery later in the year. My fertility specialist said she wants to do one or two cycles before the surgery (which is likely to result in damage to an ovary).
I had my egg collection on Wednesday last week, things went well (15 eggs, 12 mature, 9 fertilised with ICSI, so far 4 made it to blast and have been frozen. They'll check for any day 6 blasts tomorrow).
I spoke to my doctor about my next cycle on Friday and she said if my period hadn't come by Wednesday (a week after egg collection) we could start the next cycle, but if it came sooner we would need to wait. I don't know why (there's never any time to ask questions, i can't fault my clinic generally but comms are poor!)
I want to do my next cycle asap so I can have the surgery sooner, but my period started last night :(
The thing is, with my first cycle I started my period on the Friday and didn't start taking the medication until the Monday, so I don't see why we can't just start this second cycle on Wednesday / Thursday.
Can anyone shed any light? Is there some rule about periods in between cycles and needing them to be a certain length of time after egg collection?
I've been trying to google the answer to this and I see advice to wait at least one full 'clear' period in between cycles but that seems to apply when ladies have a fresh transfer which unfortunately doesn't work, which isn't the same as my situation because we are not doing a transfer for at least many months!
Can anyone help? Not sure if it's worth pushing back and going to the clinic and asking to start this week.
