Should I be worried by shortening cycles?

I have noticed my period cycles have been getting shorter for the last 2 months. Would say my typical cycle length varies a bit but would average 31 or 32 days most of the time. Every now and again would have a 42 day cycle which I can only guess was stress related.

However this month my cycle has been 27 days and last month was 28, shaving off at least 3 days.

For context I've had a bit of an off history with periods. I didn't start them til my late teens, maybe 15 or 16 and even then they were very irregular, perhaps only one or two a year. this continued until I was about 25 when they seemed to become regular themselves, though I was on the pill for some of that which did regulate it.

I'm just worried as members of my family have struggled with infertility and I dont want to lose the chance to have children, though not TTC at the moment.

Any advice appreciated!

One or two cycles a year sounds indicative of PCOS. Did it getting more regular coincide with getting on the pill ?

Either way, given that and your family history, I would recommand getting checked out. Get a gynae to do bloods and take a look at your insides and see if anything gets flagged. It can't hurt.

Yes it was made more regular by the pill but when I came off it, it wasn't regular after that. I think I was actually tested for PCOS when I was younger but I don't think anything showed.
