Having a panic about sugar and diet

Hi everyone,

I'm going through my first cycle of IVF at the moment and scheduled for egg collection tomorrow. I have low AMH and endometriosis, but so far my doctor has been pleased with my response to stimulation in terms of development of follicles given my situation.

It sounds a bit daft but I'm having a wobble about what I've eaten today. Basically, I've eaten fairly sensibly through the cycle - upped my protein a little, mostly home cooked meals with whole grains and lots of veggies (I tend towards this in my regular diet, but with some junk on top!) But I have had the odd takeaway or sweet, so not being ultra strict or anything

But today I've eaten absolute crap - bacon roll for breakfast, burrata and a baked tomato salad for lunch (that bit not so bad!), takeaway pad Thai and prawn crackers for dinner followed by a mars ice cream and a packet of love hearts! I know it is stupid but feel I've made my blood sugar spike the evening before egg collection and keep googling the impacts of sugar on egg quality - though I know one day surely won't make a substantial difference to my egg quality overall!

Please give my head a wobble and (hopefully) tell me I'm being a bit silly?

If it makes you feel any better, I live on a diet or Doritos and Coca Cola (I wish I was lying but I barely eat anything healthy) and produced 30 good quality eggs from my one round of IVF. I can't see one day making any sort of difference. Best of luck!

One day won't make any difference and frankly the evidence is pretty lacking as to whether diet has much effect at all. Don't worry, it won't affect things. Good luck for your collection.

@Yazoop the diet is more to do with reducing your chances of over stimulating - so low sugar, high protein, lots of water etc. one day is not going to affect anything especially not so close your eggs are all ready matured and waiting to come out. Stop stressing that's worse. X

It really doesn't matter and won't make any difference whatsoever. I never changed my (not very good) diet during IVF. It's more important to be stress-free and relaxed, I would have found watching what I ate stressful. I am a normal weight and was religious with taking multivitamins.

Thanks, ladies. Much appreciated - I think just overthinking things. So hard not to! Had egg collection this morning and all went ok. Just a waiting game now x
