Hi all,
I have been infertile for 12+ years now, but did successfully conceive when I was 16. We had our lovely son, who is now almost 15! My husband and I then TTC after getting married just before our son turned two.
Sadly, I never conceived and it's thought to be because I gained a lot of weight very quickly after having my son. Earlier this year, I had a gastric bypass due to reaching 23 stone 9 lbs and developing other co morbidities.
After my op, I had an 11 week period (it didn't stop once) and became severely iron deficient. I had to have iron infusions to keep me going. Before my op, I barely had any periods, and if I did, they were very few and far between and lasted weeks!
4 weeks after the monster 11 week period, I had my very first "normal" period in 12+ years. I have lost almost 7 stone and the GP believes my periods are returning to normal.
I was wondering whether anyone else found that weight loss improved their fertility? I am going to take an ovulation test of the day my period tracking app has estimated I will ovulate, just to see.
Thanks for reading this and for any help / advice offered.
