Day 5 update

grcrobbo · 16/07/2022 10:37

Today we have:

1 early blastocyst (not quite enough cells to be able to safely biopsy)
1 cavitating morula
1 morula

Doing PGD so need them to make full blastocyst. Please can everyone give me some encouraging stories about embryos making it to blast on day 6 💗

@grcrobbo not massive success for me re numbers but like they say it only takes one!

I had 7 follicles (low AMH due to my age - 39 at the time)

5 fertilised
1 made it to blast on day 5 and 1 early blast - transferred the blast and now pregnant
Got a call on day 6 to say the early has made it to blast and is now in the freezer

X

Thank you for your reply! I so hope for the same outcome. X

Just to update, we have 1 expanded blast today graded 6B+B+ which they said was very good.

The cavitating morula is now an early blast and the morula is now a cavitating morula so there going to leave them 1 more day. That will be day 7 though which has low prospects of success.

Very relieved to have 1 but of course wished for more 😩 the chances of it passing both PGT-M and A now at my age (35) seems slim. 😔

Hi

I had 9 eggs, just one of which made it to day 6 and was successfully biopsied. I was sure it was going to come back as unusable as we only had the one (testing for a genetic condition) but it came back clear so it can happen.

wishing you all the luck X

grcrobbo · 17/07/2022 19:06

Thank you. That’s good to know there is hope for 1 💗

I honestly was initially devastated when we were told just one had made it, but I keep telling myself it’s better than 0. It’s so agonising having the additional testing on top of it all so I completely know how you feel Xx

grcrobbo · 17/07/2022 21:19

Thank you! I know - so many hurdles still to pass! It’s so difficult x

@grcrobbo I know the feeling well, we ended up with one on day 5 from 23 eggs (7 fertilised). So hard staying grateful when everything rests on one blast. We've not had any testing done so I can imagine that's scary too. You have a strong embryo to have made it 5 days though 💪🤞

grcrobbo · 18/07/2022 12:17

I can’t believe it - 2 more blasts today! Both 6B+B+ too!

The odds are against us with them being day 7s, but mentally it feels so much better to be sending 3 to testing instead of 1! X

Ah that great! Fingers crossed for the testing X

Thank you xx

@grcrobbo they say slow developers are little girls x

Angeldelight21 · 19/07/2022 14:35

Hi Op, just to wish you best of luck Xx

grcrobbo · 20/07/2022 07:45

Thank you all. I think it’s unlikely they will come back healthy and/or will implant being day 7s but it’s better than nothing! X

Hi @grcrobbo I was just wondering what happened with your testing results in the end? Did any of your day 7s come back euploid? Did you end up transferring any of your Day 7s with any success?

grcrobbo · 01/10/2022 08:45

So, both our day 7s actually came back euploid. The day 6 was aneuploid. Only one day 7 passed both PGD/PGS though. We transferred it 2 weeks ago and unfortunately it failed. We’re completely devastated

Hi @grcrobbo I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm in a similar situation to you, as having IVF to exclude a genetic condition. Trying to get euploid embryos free of my gene has been really tough and even then it's not guaranteed to work. We never seem to get any embryos through for testing on Day 5. We had a chemical pregnancy last year of our only good embryo and it was devastating. I'm only now heading into transfer number 2 and I'm terrified of it being the same outcome. I'm not sure what you're next plan of action is but I'm hoping you're able to move forward soon.

All123 · 15/02/2023 21:27

Hello,

Just jumping on this thread to hopefully give some positivity if anyone, if like me, is reading every IVF story on the internet. Just had my second round of ICSI after my first round of IVF failed with 10 eggs collected and 0 fertilised along with a missed miscarriage before this.

Most recent round of ICSI had 15 eggs retrieved with 6 fertilised. 2 made it to day 5 but only as morulas so we were told chance of success was very slim. Today was our 7 week scan where we finally had a heartbeat! 🥰

To everyone on their TTC journey I have everything crossed for you 🤞 x

bluebella2 · 18/03/2023 13:32

@All123 thank you for writing this. I’ve just had a day 5 transfer of a cavitating morula and I’ve been looking for hope xx

CentaurChiron · 19/03/2023 08:08

Good luck with your transfer @bluebella2 From what I understand 'cavitating morula' is often used fairly interchangeably with 'early blastocyst' as they're more of less the same thing.

bluebella2 · 19/03/2023 09:45

Oh really..I assumed it was just before, but that does sound better, thanks for coming on to reply to me xx

CentaurChiron · 19/03/2023 13:15

The terms used will probably depend on the embryology lab, but a cavitating morula is where you can see the cavity starting to form and the cells start to differentiate between those that will become the foetus and those that will become the placenta, which is the same as a very early blast. Wishing you the very best of luck with everything! Xx

bluebella2 · 20/03/2023 10:13

Thank you @CentaurChiron the wait is so hard. How are things with you? Xx

CentaurChiron · 24/03/2023 09:29

Things are good with me thanks @bluebella2 I've also recently had another transfer which seems to be sticking so far (touch wood), but now waiting for scan to confirm viability, which is worrying me. I hope you're managing to survive the two week wait. Xx

Borolass84 · 07/04/2024 17:16

Sorry I'm late to the group but just wanted to thank you. I too had a ungradeable cavitating embryo transferred today and cried throughout the transfer as they told us this is our best quality. The 3 behind this one are being kept til tomorrow but embryologist said its very unlikely they develop further. So glad someone's pointed out I have an early blast as they gives me more hope. Good luck with your journeys x
