Egg retrieval- only 2 eggs

Hi

My friend had her egg retrieval today and they collected 2 eggs. She is very upset. I'm trying to keep her positive. She'll find out tomorrow if any were successful as embryos.

Does anyone have any success stories with 2 eggs (or similar) collected? She is 40.

If it doesn't work are they likely to let her try again? This time is NHS funded but any future attempts won't be.

The guidelines on an NHS "cycle" differ with each CCG so it's worth your friend reading up on what she's entitled to. Some will count this as a round if it fails with no embryos to transger, while others only count a round when there has been an embryo transferred.

Sometimes less eggs can be a good thing as they should be high quality. I got 25 eggs. Only 7 fertilised and only one made it to 5 day blastocyst. So many eggs collected made me very ill and the majority were very poor quality.

I only had 4 eggs.

2 fertilised and I had a 2 day 2 embryo transfer. I now have a teen.

Both fertilised. They are going to let them go to day 5. Both are grade 4.4 today (day 3) so hopefully they make it.

I think she's scared to get her hopes up. But she couldn't have dreamed of this when I first posted.

Hi, I recently went through my second round of IVF, only two eggs retrieved and only one was mature. I am now 5 weeks pregnant, obviously very early days but wanted to share my story as I understand the stress your friend must be going through especially when you compare yourself to everyone else. Not sure about the NHS as I am a Brit living in Oz now
