Low AMH

Hi all,

I finally got my AMH blood results and have AMH of 10 pmol (which is low, especially considering my age but probably due to the fact I had untreated stage 4 endometriosis for 10 years). The letter says I will be put on 225 iu FSH agonist, but I'm not sure what this means?

I'm just feeling really disheartened now as I only get 1 round funded on the NHS and I dont think it looks optimistic for me, and not sure how i will be able to afford it going privately. I'll need ICSI due to MFI so it's just so expensive, and so unfair that we have to go through this.

Oh I really dislike how different clinics are ! I had an AMH of 10, which they said was low but weren't concerned so I didn't have any prior treatment before IVF !? I had long protocol with ICSI and ended up getting 12 follicles of which were 9 mature eggs ! I don't know if that's any help to stop you from worrying !

@IVFGotThis05 thanks! Sorry I think i was unclear (I was emotional writing this up) but the treatment seems to be what they're proposing for my IVF treatment, rather than something before IVF

That does comfort me, thank you. It's just the worry that at each stage of the icsi process there will be a drop off of eggs so if I don't have enough to start with then what hope do I have?

Hi Op,

I know how scary and overwhelming the process is but what I didn't know at the start that 1 cycle means 1 eggcollection, all fresh or frozen transfers are included from that cycle.

Do your own research on supplements and start taking them with your partner to improve your general health and increase the egg and semen quality.

I was so down and pessimistic when we started our jouney but you would be surprised how many couples go through same thing but nobody talks about it.

We had only 5 eggs collected, all fertilised, 2 blasts, the baby is 6 months old sleeping next to me, 1 in the freezer. I kept reading on mumsnet that quality is more important than quantity and it is so true.

Good luck Xx

@Skincareaddict
There's always hope !! Like @Angeldelight21 has said Quality over quantity is so true in IVF! The drop off rate is so scary but it really does only take one !! I think FSH helps stimulate growth so maybe it's only going to help improve the amount of follicles collected! I could go back to my notes and see what I was on, I kind of didn't pay attention to numbers and just listened to what I had to do and when !

@Angeldelight21 so very lucky ! It's so nice to hear success in IVF ! :)
