Hello everyone,

My partner and myself have been trying for a baby for some time with no success. I don’t ovulate every month and we thought this was the issue.

However, my partners SA results came back today. We haven’t spoken to the doctor yet regarding these so could anyone give us any insight please?

I have been looking online and know the results are not good at all.

I don't think it's that bad. It seems like the issues are with motility and morphology. You can improve morphology with lifestyle changes. Motility, I'm thinking that's solved by IVF?

@ChagSameachDoreen Thank you. From what I’ve read IVF will probably be the way we have to go. We’ve only recently been referred for tests etc so it’s a lot to take in.

@Infertilitylife I'm a bit confused by the speed concentration? Is it 26 or 10 or 6 per/ml.

With the morphology and the motility, those results are not great. My advice would be to get your partner to start taking some supplements. You may also want to see a urologist to see why the results are as they are. They could diagnose various things which will be impacting the speed quality.

Sperm regenerate every 72-90 days so get going with supplements, retest in 3 months and get all the other balls rolling for IVF / seeing a urologist. Even if you do go for IVF, you want the sperm to be the best quality possible to help with a good fertilisation rate.

Also the obvious things: no smoking, limit drinking, limit caffeine, no saunas, no jacuzzi, limit time in bath, no cycling. All these things fry the sperm. It all sounds so boring, but for some people it has a huge impact.

I can recommend Proxeed, omega 3, pycnogenol, ubiquinol and Vit D. Do you own research, but this worked for us. My OH had 0% morphology and 2.5 months later with lifestyle adjustments and the above, it was 9% and now 6 months into supplements, I'm pregnant. X

@FlyOnTheWall89 thank you. I’m not entirely sure what the concentration is as I thought it was 26 but looking at it I’m not too sure. We need to talk to the doctor next week and see what our next steps are.

We will definitely start on the lifestyle changes etc. On a routine blood test my partner was found to be very deficient in vitamin D so has a prescription that actually starts Monday.

Congratulations on your pregnancy :)
