Ongoing pain post egg collection

Hello everyone (some of you on here already know me!). I was hoping to get some thoughts on post egg collection pain. I had my second round nearly a month ago but I still have quite painful ovary area pain that doesn’t appear to be improving. EC itself apparently went well. There is an achy sort of feeling and often sharp pain as well. It feels like that immediate post EC lower pelvic/abdominal pain that just hasn’t gone away, and now has some sharp pain to go with it. I have to be careful how I’m moving about still. I don’t have bloating and didn’t have OHSS I don’t think (only got 16 eggs). I didn’t have this with my previous egg collections. It doesn’t appear to be to be improving and I’d have thought that a month on that there should be no pain.

Any thoughts? Did anyone else have the same a month or more on from EC or should I be seeking medical help at this stage?

I only felt uncomfortable for a few days after. I would contact the clinic as they can do a scan to check all is well. Best of luck x

Yes, I think a clinic visit is probably warranted unfortunately. It does seem like there generally shouldn’t be pain after about a week or so. Thanks @Stonebridge

@BlueSilver23 How did you get on?
My 2nd EC was 2 days ago and soooo much more painful afterwards this time. Do you think our ovaries are still recovering from the last round?

You could of have mild OHSS one of the ladies on the last thread had 8 eggs collected and developed it.
I had 20 this time so it's possible but I have none of the symptoms except the pain.

X

@PMAmostofthetime Yes it did resolve eventually but still getting some twinges. I do wonder if it’s because they’ve taken a bit of a battering! My first proper period was also a week late too so they were still definitely not quite right.

that’s good number of eggs! Did you get a good number of fertilisations?? Are you doing fresh or frozen?

They did scan me and said there was a small haemorrhagic heamatoma and a small amount of fluid but they didn’t think these were the cause. And this was a month on from EC. So perhaps some mild OHSS and those did have something to with the pain initially.

@BlueSilver23 Thank You-
I had 18 fertilisations! Just hoping some get to blast as none did last time.

They are still planning on fresh atm depending on how I continue to recover.

Where are you at in your process now? X

@PMAmostofthetime Thats amazing, really hoping your little one(s) is somewhere in there!

im just having a little break from it all for a couple of months, starting a new stressful job in a couple of weeks and then will think about transfer once I’m a little more settled I think.

@BlueSilver23 nice to have the summer off not thinking of all things ivf! It gets tiring.
Hope you settle into the job. Mine is stressful and I had to take a bit less stressful role temporarily be able to deal with it all x
