Please help! I’ve had 3 ectopic pregnancies and now need IvF. I want to go to Lister but not sure if I should go to Lister At Chelsea ( main hospital) or the new Lister at Portland. Any thoughts of consultants or recommendations?

Sorry to hear of your experience. I’ve been to both.

Portland Lister is just a satellite site with one doctor and one nurse for consultations, scans and bloods. There are no labs there so you would need to go to Chelsea for any procedures requiring labs (IUI, egg collection and embryo transfer). You can be under one of the Chelsea consultants and just go to Portland for monitoring appointments. You could start off doing this and easily move to Chelsea for all appointments if you you decided that would work better.

Thank you! Which consultant did you use at Lister and would you recommend? Xx

I had my egg freezing at Portland Lister. I didn’t go to the clinic in Chelsea, the egg collection was done at Portland. My consultant was Dr Salim and he is amazing!! I highly recommend him!

Why do you want to go to the Lister?

I have been there for years, as they used to be the John Lewis of the IVF world (and I couldn't afford ARGC); but I'd say now they are more at Debenhams level. Over the years they have got a lot worse. I honestly feel like, if I didn't make such a fuss all the time I would be completely ignored.

In hindsight I wish I had gone elsewhere.

@warrior101 where would you have gone then?

Everyones situation is different so if you’re going to comment at least make it helpful. I had a wonderful experience with Dr Salim and very happy with Lister. I’m not keen on the other one you mentioned.

Hi @warrior101 I actually also have a disappointment maybe because our cycle didn’t work. I feel like I am asking for add ons and they are against them. I can see they worked for a lot of people and feel that if they were given to us, probably the cycle wouldn’t have failed or I might be wrong. I can see people in CRGH are offered add ons and they chose themselves what they want to add. My dr is a bit conservative. For example I asked for Intealipids they said No even though I have high NK cells and they agreed only to give me Prednisolone.
Previously my DH sperm improved when taking Clomiphene, we asked for it and they said no. The 2x top quality embryos at day 3 actually stopped developing at day 4 and feel like it might be sperm issue. If he had a pre-treatment before the ICSI probably it would have worked who knows.
Next time I want to ask them for endometrial scratch, HGG injections, Embryo glue, HCG wash, I am sure they will say there is no enough evidence and they will not give them to me 🤷‍♀️At the end I am not a doctor but still… finding all this information from the forums instead of they offering them to me and making me informed what might be beneficial in my case. By doing this, they actually will charge me for more cycles!
