IVF First Cycle Few Questions

DelD23 · 23/06/2022 12:14

Hi All,
I recently started my first cycle (having ICSI) and I had a few questions. I started my stims yesterday.

  1. When my partner injected, my skin made a popping noise as the needle broke the skin - is that normal?
  2. I’ve had no symptoms as of yet whatsoever after the first one - is this normal?
  3. can I continue to take co-enzyme q-10 and cod liver oil or should I stop? I remembered to ask about folic acid which they said was fine but forgot the others!
  4. Any general advice - dos and don’ts for this part! Thanks x
Thank you ♥️ new to all this and very nervous to make mistakes! x

Hey 👋🏻 Thanks for commenting / following. I’m only on the second day of stims but it would be great to have others share their experiences and give us all some advice :)

If you have any questions, I’ll try to answer them as best and honestly as I can too.

Best of luck to you xx

Hi there,

I will try and answer your questions.

  1. The sound is nothing to worry about. It is quite normal.
  2. It's still too early to be feeling anything, later on when the follicles grow bigger you might feel a few cramps/twinges.
  3. You can continue with your suplements, especially q10.
  4. Try and eat a lot of protein and drink plenty of water/liquids. I won't be telling you to relax as I know how stresful the whole experience is. Just be kind to yourself!

Hi @DelD23

I didn't get a lot of side effects from the medication, everyone is different but the only real side effect I felt was a bit of cramp when I was close to egg collection!

Keep yourself busy in between appointments, to keep your mind busy mostly! Come on here and whinge about absolutely anything that's bothering you, there will be someone that has been through your situation or at least just here to listen to you !

And good luck!! Sending lots of baby dust !

Hey all,

Was sorting medication out tonight after taking stims and realised that my Cetrotide and Gonal F say to refrigerate them. I wasn’t aware I had to until I took them out the bag and read as our clinic didn’t tell us. They’ve been in a dark cool area and have not gone over room temperature/25 degrees. Anyone know what best to do?

I tried ringing the out of hours clinic but gave up after 2 hours on hold! Stressing but trying not to! x

I'm just 4 days ahead of you. Started on cetrotide tonight.

I read with cetrotide that as long as its not mixed and in a room below 30 degrees they're OK out of the fridge.

I think for Gonalf it's the same. X

Thank you.

I’ll call the clinic on Monday but I read this too and common sense is telling me it’ll be fine, but just want everything to go correctly.

Do you keep yours in the fridge? Xx

Thank you! I have had a few twinges in my left side today. Maybe unrelated but definitely feeling something on my left.

Thank you for your answers - really reassuring, thank you! x

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your message.

Day 3 is done ✔️

I am so glad to have somewhere to come with so many lovely, understanding people :) I definitely need to take your advice and find ways to keep busy as I find most days so far have felt like I’m just waiting around, willing the hours away for the PM injection and it’s made the week feel so long already xx
