IVF after covid

Hi all,

I was looking to re-start IVF but my DH got covid and now FS says that it affects the sperm so must wait 2 months.

He's still in iso, I haven't caught it yet but worried about it.

How long have you or partner waited for IVF after Covid? And was that first cycle after covid same or worse than before?

Thanks!

I am also going to follow this thread ! My partner had covid last July I think and we started IVF in November ... Didn't notice anything ! We have both just had it end of May and will probably will be starting end of July! I will mention it at my follow up appointment on Monday 4th and see what they say, they might ask for another sample to see what's going on! Either way I will let you know and keep following the thread!

My clinic requires a wait of 3 months if male partner catches covid due to impact on sperm. We were very careful not to catch it prior to our fresh cycle. With FETs it's a 28 day delay. Not sure why for this one but that's their protocol.

@IVFGotThis05

I think you will be fine, end of May to November. My doctor is saying 2 months for a fresh cycle for men. Although for women fresh cycle may be longer. Don't know if she said that because of the normal cycle life of sperm or not though, cause then for eggs would be longer.

Yes please let me know what your doctor recommends. Thanks!

@Hoping4baby21

Thanks! Your doctor is asking a bit more than mine. I think for FET is the same in my clinic.

We were on a break to take extra supplements and see if they help improve quality when he got it. I was really looking forward to start next month and now have to wait extra.

I just got covid but was hoping to start IVF in August. Does anyone know if this will affect me? DH hasn't caught it and he's staying with his brother. Thanks in advance

Some doctors recommend waiting after covid. They did ask us how strong symptomps of infection he had such as fever.

@Minamina me too! Tested pos today and starting round in August. DP is negative and is sleeping in spare room (I’m holed up
on bedrooom and masked if I use loo etc). Hoping he will be ok as it does affect sperm.

I actually asked my head embryologist if covid impacted egg quality on a previous round and he said it didn't so fingers crossed. I will check again though.

@Cherry35 @Phrenologistsfinger Thank you for your responses! I went through it very easily and DH didn't get it at all! (at least not yet) apparently it can take up to 14 days to show, but fingers crossed. I also asked and they said it's not a problem. Hope we're all in the clear. What an UNNECESSARY extra layer of stress though!
Best wishes
xx
